We wanted to get out of the city on 4th of July. We rode the subway to the end of the line. It was the day of the Nathan's hotdog eating contest. It was very crowded near the site of the contest. We loved the boardwalk and wide beach. It was filling up with tourists. We didn't ride any rides... More

We took the train from midtown Manhattan to Coney Island. It takes ~1 hour stops right across the street from the beach. I was concerned after reading reviews about how dirty it was and the strong undertow in the water. Neither were the case the day we went. Both the beach and boardwalk were clean. The water temperature was pleasant... More

Almost the same as from O'Henry's short stories still. Great beech, a lot of attractions, subway station in a few steps.

Fun experience for everyone. The water in New York is dirty but the rides, boardwalk, food and drinks were great. Try Nathans:)

Coney Island is at the far end of Brooklyn and if you are in the mood for a long ride on the subway, it will take you just footsteps from the boardwalk, the famous rides, a sandy beach and the New York Aquarium. If you get hungry, don't forget to eat at the famous Nathans

We visited NY and were lucky enough to stay with friends who are living in Brooklyn Heights. The kids were off school one day and we decided we would go to Coney Island. This isn’t somewhere I would have thought of visiting on a regular NY trip, or really at all. It was the highlight of our week in NY... More

It was a lot of fun, the parade was great. Way too many people! It took us 20 minutes just to cross the street. Crowds reminiscent of New year's at Times Square.

When I was a kid in the 60s, my dad was a fireman in Coney Island. When he worked nights my mother, brother and I would go visit her mother. We took the El to her house but had to change trains in Coney Island. We would get off and visit my dad at the fire house. When we did,... More

Even thou I don't like to go in the water in this specific spot because it gets too dirty some days... the boardwalk is alive and it is a very nice place to spend the day, have fun, eat good, drink if you want, relax...very nice.
