Just take the D train. Coney Island is historical NYC and a current vibrant part of NYC. Great for people watching and not too crowded during the week

Coney Island has changed for the better! I recently visited one of the many restaurants and was amazed at the adding of the new eateries that are now home to Coney Island! The amusement park is a winner for children and adults! The beach is the place to be on summer nights; good things happen on the boardwalk everyday. Come... More

Brooklyn Heights promenade is a great place to stroll. You get fabulous views of the waterfront and of Manhattan. It is pretty peaceful if you just want to sit and vegetate. An added bonus is the park below with restaurants, Ample Hills ice cream stand and great vistas of the harbor and the Brooklyn Bridge. For the kids there is... More

We visited in December, so nothing was open. I would like to go back and see it when its up and running during peak season. I was fun to walk around and see everything, and the fact the the park is literally on a beach near a major city is quite unique. I would like to go back for a... More

In the summer this place is almost magical, (yes there is a very different crowd it also attracts, it's in a big city, get over it) but if you grab a hot dog and hang out by the water or ride the amusement park rides you should see how great Coney Island is.

My husband and I went to Coney Island just to enjoy the beautiful weather. The board walk had a lot of people walking and some just sitting and enjoying the weather or just people watching. We also had a hot dog at the world famous Nathans. We also had a candy apple at William's candy store. Really enjoyed our evening.... More

My husband and I have been to NYC several times but this was the first time to CI. Not impressed. Seems like a giant carnival. It is cool that there is a beach this close to a major city.

Since 1993, I have been attending the Mermaid Parade in Coney Island. This year, it is on June 17th. About a million of people attend this parade which welcomes summer so get your beach chair and find your place early on the parade route. Beware the almost naked mermaids and mermen plus some very zany costumes. The subway lines D,F,... More

Just returned from a short stay in New York during its first big heatwave of the year. It was a definite relief to head to the coast where it was around 10 degrees cooler with a light sea breeze. Made it a pleasure to stroll along the boardwalk, have a look at the Luna Park fairground and just enjoy the... More
