We saw the Sasha Velour show here on New Years Eve and couldn’t think of a more perfect spot to bring in 2019. Staff were super nice, the space is crazy cool, and it is super LGBTQIA friendly.

Thank you Bruce and the wonderful National Sawdust. Acoustics are amazing . Great night with my daughter enjoying music at its best. My only suggestion would be is to add a couple more rows of seats. Thank you again for a special night.

The website for National Sawdust states "National Sawdust (NS), an unparalleled, artist-led, non-profit venue, is a place for exploration and discovery. A place where emerging and established artists can share their music with serious music fans and casual listeners alike." What it does not tell you is that this is one hip place where you can always be assured of a provocative and thought-provoking experience. Well worth the trip to Brooklyn.

Immediately you enter this venue you are struck by the design elements of the auditorium. It is quite small but this has the positive of making your experience quite intimate. Really top class jazz musicians play here in a variety of contexts; album launches , part of a bigger festival or simply an event organised by the team at National sawdust.
It is just a few blocks from the Bedford Street subway so it is easy to get to.There are many eating places nearby for after the concert.

National Sawdust gives an opportunity to artists and performers who are outside the mainstream to present their work and test their ideas. Most recently I attended there several events of the Prototype Festival, which focuses on opera-theater and music-theater. The calendar of the NS is worth monitoring as it sometimes offers unique and rare opportunities to learn of the work of new emerging artists.
