The two of us did the 2 hour snow machine tour, 30 minute dog sled ride, and the 4 hour ice fishing trip in frigid temps on a bright April day. Not enough words to express how awesome the entire experience was! Our guides Victoria, Casey, and Clarence were highly skilled individuals, fantastic guides, and simply super friendly people. We also met Terry and Rod the owners and they were also very welcoming and helpful. What a great organization starting with the people, all the way to the buildings and equipment. Doing all this at once seemed a bit pricey at first, but it turned out to be money well spent on an unforgettable experience of a lifetime! Just a few highlights: multiple moose sightings while snow machining, tearing it up through tight forest trails and open frozen lakes, getting a chance to mush the dogs, hanging out with the dogs, catching and eating a number of fish from Chena Lake, seeing a bald eagle, throwing some caught fish and seeing the eagle swoop down and pick it up, and eating reindeer hot dogs and hearing some great fishing stories. All the while we were taking some unbelievable photos of everything. Like I said, money well spent. Thank you so much for everything!!!

Thank you for booking my ultimate combo adventure: 2 hr snowmobiling, 4 hour ice fishing, and 30 minute dog sledding. When you book my combo packages you can choose to do all activities in one day or spread them out over different days. Thank you for the review.

Just finished day 3 of excursions with Rod's. My wife, son (6 years old) and I did the ice fishing, snow machine tour and the dog sled mushing.. WOW! Amazing experience with a GREAT family owned and operated outfitter. Very accommodating and very professional.

Day 1 We had Aaron as our fishing guide, he was friendly, knowledgeable and a great cook. The fresh fish was unbelievably good. The reindeer sausage was tasty and the hot cocoa was a great treat. Aaron has a special knack for making perfect strangers feel like old friends inside the fishing cabin.
Day 2 Rodney was our snowmobile guide and he was excellent as well. My son got motion sick about 10 minutes in. I had to stop for his sake, within 2 minutes Rodney recognized that something was wrong and came right back to check on us.
He promptly took us back on the shortest route to the base so my son didnt have to suffer through a long ride while sick. My wife continued on with him and the rest of the group. She had a BLAST, she wanted her own snow machine by the end of the 2 hr tour! After the tour was Rodney made sure to ask my son how he was feeling, which I thought was great!

Day 3 we did the 2 hour dog sled tour. This was our absolute favorite part of the whole Alaskan experience. Kaycee took my wife and son. My little guy LOVED her and loved the dogs. He spent over half the time on the back of the sled helping Kaycee run the team instead of sitting in the sled. He talked Kaycee's ear off and didnt wanna quit riding! He is still begging us to go back again for another tour before we go home.

Philip was my Musher, we had a blast. He did an excellent job teaching me about the dogs and the tiny nuances to watch for to keep a team running strong. 30 minutes in and he had me as his co-pilot. 10 more minutes and he jumped in the sled and let me take the reigns! What an experience!!! Philip was engaging and interesting to talk to. I was shocked to learn I was his very 1st tour, as I would have believed he had been a tour guide for years.

What an amazing and accommodating team at Rods. They took the time before each excursion to insure we were outfitted with proper gear to keep warm. They paid special attention to my son to be sure he was comfortable and even offered him a regular sled to play with after he was unable to complete the snow machine tour. We stayed for over an hour after our tour and just hung out with Rod, Rodney and Teri. This group honestly makes you feel like friends. I truly hope to make it back someday to enjoy more of what Rods has to offer!

If you find yourself near North Pole Alaska you wont find a better outfit to take care your adventure needs! (Also check out Teri's Moosewalk Cabin for a great place to stay)

My husband and I had just recently went to Fairbanks Alaska. We had booked the Combo excursions with Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service. We have to say it was amazing!! The Combo Excursion included 2 hour Snowmobile, 30 mins of dog sledding, and 4 hours of Ice Fishing. We had the choice of doing all these three excursion in one day. First we went to the two hours Snowmobile. Our tour guide for the Snowmobile tour was Rod and he was great!! Rod was fun and knowledgeable about the snowmobile and safely. We had a blast snowmobiling into the gorgeous winter forest and the beautiful lake. It was an amazing experience and Rod made our experience even better!! After the 2 hour snowmobile we went to the 30 minute dog sledding. Kiki (our tour guide) was great!! She explained to us about how the dogs are cared for and how they get trained. The dogs are lovely!! The dog sledding through the winter white woods was amazing! And lastly we went to the 4 hour Ice Fishing. This was my first time fishing so I was nervous but our guide Aaron was great! He was patient and a great teacher! We were cozy and warm in the ice fishing house. After catching the fishes Aaron cleaned and cooked our fishes to perfection!! The fish was yummy!! He also cooked us reindeer sausages that was surprising very tasty!!! Overall this Combo excursion was the highlight of our trip to Alaska. We couldn’t have asked for more!! Thank you Rod’s Alaskan Guide Service for an amazing trip!! We enjoyed our time!! Thank you!! We recommend the Combo Excursions to everyone who wants to experience Alaska!!

Our tour was perfect and I highly recommend it. Rod’s is a first class operation with large clean facilities and excellent terrain. We were outfitted with their gear which kept our winter clothes and shoes dry. Keep in mind that one can get covered with wet snow even on a cold day. At first I thought our duck line through the woods was slow (groups always are) but things really opened up when we hit the frozen lake and were turned loose after an additional safety briefing. We toured in early April and conditions were perfect with lots of fresh powder. Victoria was our guide and she couldn’t have been more professional, pleasant and accommodating. Don’t hesitate to give these guys a try.

Went on a 2 hour snowmobile tour, $250 pp with Rod's Alaskan Guide Service (Corey recommended) about 20 minutes from Taste of Alaska near the town of North Pole and what a classy operation. Super warm jackets and bibs, bunny boots (military grade that "used" cost $300 or more), and heated face shields were standard as part of the package. The impressive part was that they recognized that our experience being snowmobilers for over 20 years would not have matched the tour expectations being paired with 1st time riders. So they arranged for Josh to take us on a private tour with speed and terrain we would not have experienced going 5 miles an hour with a an inexperienced group. KUDOS to Josh and the whole staff at Rod's, you were amazing and again, so far superior to our other snowmobile tour

Our family had a great time with our guide Andrew. He was very attentive to making sure our equipment was working at all times. He even switched out the cord for my daughters heated helmet during the ride so that her visor didn’t fog up and assured that her ride was comfortable. He took us on a great ride over the lake, river, along the pipeline and thru gorgeous trails in the woods. The equipment was top notch and the ride was everything we hoped for. We would definitely recommend and would do this again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our ice fishing excursion. Living in Little Rock, Arkansas, it was the first time we had iced fished and really didn't know what to expect. The wooden, stove heated "hut" accommodated 14 people. Romay Harris was our guide and she was superb! From helping us get the appropriate fishing license, baiting our hooks, serving hot chocolate, heating reindeer dogs for lunch, taking the fish off our hooks, and then cooking the fish for us to taste. What a great personality! Unfortunately, we'd left a backpack when we left the area and had to drive back to the lake. Romay was standing at the road with the backpack with a smile on her face! I highly recommend Rod's Alaskan Guide Services for any of the excursions they offer.

We did 1 hr snowmobile, 30 min dog mushing (with Kacee) and ice fishing (with Aaron). All were very fun. We wish we did the 2 hour snowmobile because we just got the hang of it when it ended. Kacee took great care of us and told us all about how she raised, trained and took good care of the lovely dogs. For ice fishing, two of us had never fished before and we all caught fish. And it’s very comfortable and warm to fish in the heated cabin.

Please do be mindful of their 48 cancellation and rescheduling policy. We had to move our dog mushing due to a car accident and had to repay for the two spots that weren’t resold, which is reasonable but something to keep in mind.

We went ice fishing in the morning and snowmobiling in the afternoon and had a blast! My husband is an avid fisherman and was excited to experience fishing in Alaska, it was my first time ice fishing ever. I outfished him...6-2 :) Yay! We had a great time and caught almost 30 fish counting everyone in our cabin. Our guide Clarence was very helpful and friendly. Lunch was delicious and the fish was amazing. Snowmobiling was epic; we got to twist and turn through the trees and also let loose and fly on open space including riding on top of the buried Alaska pipeline. We came across moose twice; once a little to close to hang out for pictures, but safe enough to cruise by, the other about 200 yard away to get some pics. Our guide Victoria was very attentive to the group and made sure all our needs were met. Definitely a place to visit!

Aaron hosted us for ice fishing diana took us mushing, and Kaycee took my friends mushing.

We all caught a fish, aaron was such pleasant company, made us all laugh and took pics for all of us. liyan, myself, and the franceses all loved this gentle and charming fella.

Diana mushed, and we went around in a circle, told us about her wonderful treasures and how sweet the pups were. She took pics and let us pet her darlings. It was great.

Kaycee was so sweet too, and told us and franciseseses all about sledding and how these dogs are awesome. They were such beauties and we're so nice to give the franceseses a ride.

Thank you very much for this great experience.
