My husband and I were excited about visiting this kennel. The morning we arrived we were greeted by young people who were keeping the kennels for Lance Mackey. They were somewhat knowledgeable of the running of the kennel but were purely amateurs that were there to keep the kennels and for the summer training of the dogs. We had to ask questions or we would really have not benefited from anything at this kennel. We were shown things only by asking questions it was very very expensive for the little bit of information that we got, poor quality equipment and would definitely not recommend this out-of-the-way place for anyone to visit!! There are too many other great kennels that provide Interesting and have knowledgeable people running their their operation. As far as we are concerned we help to pay the price for feeding their dogs. A very disappointing trip that wasted a lot of our time and money!

Response from Lance M, Manager at Lance Mackey's Comeback Kennel
Responded Aug 13, 2018
Sorry this was your experience! We've never had our handlers reviewed this way - they're quite knowledgeable and experienced, for not being Lance himself or having extensive racing experience. Must have been an off day, and for that we apologize. Glad we've still got plenty who recommend our place glowingly based on the positive experiences they have with us, and disappointed that this was not the case for you. Best wishes. - Jenne

My husband and I arrived quite early for the tour. We were concerned me might need the extra time in case we got lost. But we followed the website's instructions to a tee and it was easy peasy! Anyway, we were quite early and we were graciously & quickly greeted by a couple dogs and their handlers. They gave us a very thorough tour of the kennel, introduced us to many of the dogs (super friendly), and even let us play with the puppies. Lance himself came out shortly after and talked with us for quite some time...about puppies, dog training, races... Everyone was so welcoming & genuine. This was on the last day of a two and a half week trip and it was THE highlight! Thank you , Thank you, Thank you!!

We were a group of five that visited in the break up season (29 April 2018) so our dog sled ride ended up getting cancelled due to warm weather. We were disappointed but decided to tour the kennels. What an experience. If you love dogs, you must visit. If you want to learn about dog sledding, this is the place to go. Lance and Jenne were so hospitable and welcoming. Lance LOVES his dogs and it shows. We got to hold puppies and ask a hundred questions. We absolutely enjoyed the visit and would highly recommend especially when there is snow on the ground!

I had this romantic view of dog sledding across pillowy snow and smooth rides. This was a roller coaster. It was amazing and exhilarating and actually a crazy rough ride at times. No smooth pillowy ride, and I'd do it again. Also it’s complicated. It was so eye opening to see what the reality of the experience can be like. Wayne, our musher had to separate two dogs that weren't working well together and first brought him back to run alongside the sled until he decided where to put him. He immediately jumped on a lap into the sled. 🙂 The dogs were wonderful, friendly, playful, sleek, running machines. There were also 8, 4 week old puppies to visit!!!!! The kennel is completely off the grid at the top of a ridge above Chatanika Valley. The views were awesome and we loved it. Thank you to Wayne for being so informative and Introducing us to this great sport.

I visited here to do a dog sled ride and I have to say, I have been converted to a bit of a dog lover! The dogs here were so friendly - clearly they are very loved and well looked after.. they were so happy and excited to get into their harness and run, run.. and run some more!! Lance was not there the day we were cause he was racing, but being interested in his career, we were able to go into the house to see his memorabilia. Truly amazing experience..
