Only two roads lead to the Arctic Circle in North America, this takes one.

Dalton highway. You leave from Fairbanks, and depending on the road conditions, you get to the Circle in about 6 hours. It is a great trip, and very affordable, considering you must usually fly to this destination most of the time. Book early to assure your seat, the bus is not very large. The driver gives highlights throughout, we stopped... More

My sister and I took the fly/drive evening tour from Fairbanks to Coldfoot and back. Fly to Coldfoot with pilot John was smooth and very scenic. Guide Brandon took it from there. This young guy amazed us with the knowledge he had about the area, from nature, science and history topics to everyday life of today Alskan people. He was... More

We took the 16 hour Arctic Circle drive tour, which actually took 13 hours. The first 8 hours were all about the pipeline. We listed to videos produced by the pipeline from the 70s and a very old PBS video. These videos are so outdated, that they are painfully inaccurate. Our driver was about to celebrate his 80th birthday. On... More

Went on the Arctic Circle fly/drive adventure at 5 am back to Fairbanks at 6 pm. The tour was worth getting to drive on the Dalton Highway seeing the pipeline, Yukon River, Finger Mountains, Coldfoot (60 miles north of the Arctic Circle). Our guide/driver (Rob) was friendly and informative. The adults enjoyed it but our teenager's in our group said... More

My husband, a friend of ours and myself took the bus tour to the Arctic Circle in late July. It was a long loooonnng trip and I wish we had opted for the more expensive plane tour. On the one hand it was fascinating seeing everything up close and our tour guide, Allen, was very knowledgeable about all kinds of... More

My wife and I just completed the Arctic Circle drive tour and had a great time. Our tour guide Tony was engaging and knowledgeable. Of course the scenery was spectacular, and the Yukon River Camp was a pleasant surprise...the dinner we had there was fabulous! I highly recommend the Arctic Drive tour (understand its a long day, but worth it)... More

My air tour to Coldfoot with a drive to Wiseman and a tour there really exceeded my expectations. Seeing and hearing how people live in the bush was very enlightening. Along with check-in and a briefing at the tour office at the airport, we had an opportunity to buy souvenirs and order a sack lunch to be picked up upon... More

We took a fly/drive to Coldfoot Alaska. The flight was wonderful and the pilot did a great job of showing us around. The pipeline from the air is awesome and the Yukon river is so much larger than you expect. It is amazing how different the terrain is this time of year, so much greenery. The flight was about 1... Thank you 193pat for joining Carol on the Arctic Circle Fly Drive Adventure. Yes, we do surprise many summer visitors with our green and not snow covered scenery during the summer months. The tour included a land tour from Fairbanks to Coldfoot Alaska north of the Artic Circle and a flight back. Our guide, Michael, was fantastic. We learned a lot about the Alaska pipeline including the history and technology. Michael explained permafrost and even dug down so we could feel the ice below. We learned about the Dalton Highway and why... More
