About
Come take a hike through the boreal forest with us! We give snowshoe based nature tours during the daytime and evening time as well as an ice luminary and dinner experience on select nights of the week. We are a family friendly operation with snowshoes available for kids 4 and up (younger kids are also welcome, but they might prefer being carried some or we have a sled they can ride in). Most tours are 2 hours long and end with a warm cup of locally foraged herbal tea. We also offer completely customizable tour options, so feel free to ask us to find out more!

We had a wonderful time with our guide Shannon! We originally had booked for the 1pm-3pm time slot, but Shannon reached out to let us know there was a conflict with her schedule. She was super flexible and worked with us to pick out another time on the same day so that we could still go out! We ended up going a little later that day, and it was great because we were able to catch the sunset. Shannon was extremely knowledgable about native plants and wildlife. We learned so much on our trip. We would highly recommend these snowshoeing guides!

Shannon was a phenomenal trail guide. My husband and I had a fantastic time snowshoeing through her gorgeous backyard into the state park that backs up to the property. As first time snowshoers we were given great tips and tricks and detailed intro for snowshoeing. Definitely came in handy as I fell a few times while breaking the trail. Not only was the trail itself gorgeous, but we also learned a lot from Shannon. She explained how to determine wildlife prints in the snow and we enjoyed the "pop quizzes" to determine what animal tracks we saw along the way. Shannon was incredibly knowledgeable of all things on the trail and it was awesome to see some of the medicinal purposes the nature itself provides. Would highly recommend Shannon for a fun, gorgeous and informative tour of Alaska.

I had a blast with Shannon on my evening snowshoe tour! She is such a good teacher and is very knowledgeable. The hot tea break was awesome and although the Aurora did not make an appearance we had a full moon and did not have to use head lamps. I recommend this tour to anyone who likes to walk in the woods.

Great fun, very informative about the forest, area, wildlife and natural growths and health benefits.
We were lucky to have arrived right after one of the biggest snow storms in years, and late in the season. We had about a 4 foot snowpack. And didnt realize it until we stepped aside from the snowshoe and sank hip deep in it.

Thanks Selena, it was such a pleasure to have you and your sister and son out snowshoeing! We were so glad you were interested in the nighttime hike and the aurora made an appearance- there's nothing like moonlight exploring in the snow with the aurora overhead! Let us know if you come back to Alaska in another season!

We had an incredible time snowshoeing through the woods at night with Shannon and Evan. Both Shannon and Evan have a wealth of knowledge about the plant and wildlife in Fairbanks, which made the tour very informative as well as fun. They also had extra gear available to keep us warm even in -32 °F weather! The fantastic tour was capped with a magical appearance by the Aurora Borealis that we were able to see walking back up to the cabin! Definitely an unforgettable experience and a must do in Fairbanks in the winter!

Thanks Jimmy and Corey, it was so much fun sharing the boreal forest with you! We love getting out and exploring in the moonlight, and the aurora makes it extra special (what a show you got!)! Hope you got some great pictures and fit in your salmon dinner at some point between auroral displays :)

We took a snowshoeing tour with the couple, who were so knowledgeable about the forest. We looked at different vegetation and animal tracks, and walked on snow and frozen streams. Great way to learn about Alaska wilderness and awesome activity while in Fairbanks!

I chose a two hour morning snowshoe tour and it was exactly what I needed! I'm visiting Alaska and have been trying to squeeze in all the popular tourist attractions but this gave me a better view of Alaska in the winter. The air is fresh, and the forest is almost magical. Shannon was our guide and she is full of information and passion for the environment. She brought along delicious warm tea to enjoy in the forest. No phones, no vehicle or city noises, simply peaceful. Get out there and enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery!
