The guides were genuinely friendly, respectful, and extremely knowledgeable. When we arrived, we were brought into a genuine Mongolian yurt that was warm. We were seated and important information was shared; this was also the time to pick any warm items needed like super warm coats, boots, etc. We then went outside, two people per sled. We were first introduced to each dog; each was calm, quiet, and loved being patted. Not one jumped up on a person ever. If you wanted, you could learn how to put a harness on a dog and do it.
Two persons then climbed into a warmly lined cover on each sled, and zipped in. As soon as the first dog was led to be harnessed to the sled itself, that is when the dogs became very excited about their work, with happy howls galore!
Each sled zipped along through the woods and fields; it was altogether thrilling. Our guide explained what the dogs were doing and why, and answered any question we threw at him. It was beautiful being in the Alaskan woods as well as amazing to see the dogs hard at their work and loving it!
There was a short break in the middle where the photos happened of people, dogs, guides. Then back to the yurt to change out clothes and boots, and warm up by the wood stove with more information and questions answered. These were delightful guides who loved what they did. I heartily recommend this experience!
