When they opened this place was great but they really aren't keeping it up. They haven't gotten anything new in and the stuff that's there is getting worn out really fast from constant playing. It needs a lot of work for a place that hasn't even been around that long.

Drove roughly an hour from DC to visit this Children's Museum on a weekday afternoon with my wife and six children, ages 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, and 9. It's situated in a shopping plaza; parking was free and available. Admission was reasonable, $8 a person, although I fail to recognize why they, or any children's museum, charge admission for adults. Moderate size, everything is on a single level. Staff was friendly and easy-going when interacting with the kids. The entire place was clean and it was obvious the staff picked up periodically during the day. Barring the column in the middle, one can see everything which makes it easier keeping an eye on multiple kids. The overall design is well thought out, flows right, and the production values are excellent. They have a small gift ship area, snacks for sale, and a seating area if you choose to bring in your own food. There's four bathrooms, a pair on each side. The first play area is a baby & toddler area, where our youngest son played happily for hours. The next area is tire themed: a climbing structure resembling stacks of tires with a bell to ring at the peak, a construct your own lego-esque car area, a downhill racing track, and a sandbox area with finely shredded tires in lieu of sand. The next section is an art & craft area, with the usual. On the back wall is the storefronts: dentist, bank, restaurant, grocery store. This area was bustling with children playing town. In the corner is a reading area with a collection of books and beanbag chairs. Next to that is a stage with dress-up clothes. In the center is a triangular column with magnetic wall ball machine, an air tube machine, and an interactive screen game. My few complaints is I wish they had more seating scattered around for parents (comfortable chairs, not the backless wooden benches), its size is limited when compared to other museums, and an indoor playground structure would be nice. Overall, the amount of area is similar to the National Children's Museum in National Harbor, which I wrote a harsh review for, but the space is utilized so much better at CMoR: Fredericksburg. After visiting this location our appetite is whetted to visit the Main Children's Museum in Richmond in the near future.

Since moving to Virginia to be closer to our 4-year twin granddaughters we are constantly looking for new things to do with them. I recently came across a web site item for the Children's Museum of Richmond, Stafford location. It was only a half an hour drive from our location so we decided to go on a Friday. We arrived shortly after 10 am. The place was pretty empty and quiet but there were so many interesting things for the girls to do and they didn't waste any time exploring and having fun. The place quickly filled up but there was still more than enough things for everyone to do.

There are several educational and entertaining activities for children (and parents) to get involved in. Our girls liked them all but especially liked the scarf/air machine. There is an arts and crafts corner, grocery store, a bank, a dentist office and more. All of the children that were there, while we were there, were having fun. We took "What do you want to be when you grow up pictures" and emailed them to mom and dad from a simulated computer. The girls created artwork that they took home and we left thoroughly pleased.

If you plan on going check their web site. There are actually four locations, with Richmond VA being the larger main location. Stafford, VA is smaller but still a fun place for children.

It is a cute idea but the price is very steep and the place can definitely use a deep scrub. I really abhor the fact that parents are charged this much. This is really a place for smaller children and charging parents this much is outrageous. Imagine adults paying admission every time they go to Chuck E Cheese or something... I'm not even using anything! The concept is cute but it won't last long. It's struggling to survive off it's sister's name (Children's Museum of Richmond) but it is small and not too much to do here.

I was so excited to have the CMOR come to Fredericksburg! But I was so disappointed when it actually opened.

For the same fee as the parent location, the Fredericksburg location was half the exhibits and half the fun.

I say spend an hour on the road and head to Richmond to play in the original.

I have taken children to this museum four times. I will not return, unless I am allowed to walk through before making a decision to stay. Each time I return, the museum is less organized and dirtier. I did speak with the management on my last visit. I explained that I had come at the time the museum opened that morning and had spent most of my time finding toys/props and returning them to their correct area. The place was filthy, and several interesting items had been broken and removed since my last visit. They were replaced with far less engaging items like bent hula hoops. The young women who are employed are interested only in their smart phones.

We took our 3 year old grandson here on Saturday June 7, 2014 on our way to Richmond. He loved it as I can imagine any kid would. It's all indoors. They have a tire climbing thing, a sand box type of thing (but with small rubber pieces instead of dirty sand), a grocery store, restaurant, bank, dentist office, stage with dress up costumes, a reading room, an activity room and more! Everything was hands-on. It was very clean and everything appeared to be in its place. My grandson loved it and so did my husband and I. We will return.

Needs a deep clean looks like they don't even wipe things down !!! Which should be done with kids playing the toys r all dirty ! The people who work there should actually clean and not stand behind the desk the whole day with no one coming in.

Unfortunately this was a waste of time and money. My eight year old was bored to tears and ready to leave within ten minutes of walking in. Things seemed a little unclean and messy. Would not return nor recommend it.

I would like to mention 2 points:
- the place needs a lot of clean up and update
- there shouldn't be a charge for adults as there is no way for adult to do anything.
