I would like to mention 2 points:
- the place needs a lot of clean up and update
- there shouldn't be a charge for adults as there is no way for adult to do anything.

I took my grandchildren here who are 3 years old. They had a ball climbing the tires, playing at the store with buying items, running them through the check out as a cashier. They also had making of art items like masks, painting of pictures, etc. The children really enjoyed the hands on activities. We spent several hours doing all these fun activities.

The Children's Museum was a wonderful place to spend time with my young grandchildren on Mother's Day since it was pouring rain. They greatly enjoyed the the interactive displays, fun activities, and jungle gym. Lots of things to keep little ones entertained. I highly recommend.

My daughter visited the museum for a birthday party and it was tons of fun. There are multiple play areas which give the kids a lot of options for open play. The party rooms are quite large, so you don't have to worry about being crammed in a small space. Overall, a very nice place to spend a few hours burning up some energy, especially in the cold months.

The pluses- staff is pleasant, Birthday party space is ample and clean. The minuses- While there are numerous interactive activities for children of all ages all are tired, worn and in some cases missing pieces or parts.

We had a great time at the Childrens Museum during my daughters PreSchool Field Trip! The museum has numerous hands on activities for the children including a grocery store, dentist office, car, silo with balls, etc. The grocery store was my daughters favorite! We also got to go into a room with the instructor to learn about paleontology. The instructor was FABULOUS and really connected with the kids. The little crafts they had set up within the room were great too!

Been here quite a few times with my little people. Very good for toddler age to about 3yrs old. Several different areas for the littles to play & explore. There is an art center with endless art supplies for them to enjoy. A grocery store & Dîner for them to play pretend. The tire mountain was a huge hit with my littles. There is an area with all play mats that is blocked off from the older kiddos, for the smaller toddlers just learning to walk. After about age 3 1/2-4yrs old...they may get bored after about an hour.

We took our 3 year old grandson and he had a blast. He loved the "sandbox' and the cafe. Kids take things from one area to the other. Parents are supposed to be with their kids but that is not always the case. It would be better if the museum had staff that roamed and returned items that were in the incorrect area (if no one was playing with it) to the correct area. They should also tell kids that are doing things that could hurt younger children to stop. An example is older kids standing on the big tire around the sandbox and jumping in while younger children were playing. Being a children's museum, I feel they should have a toddler toilet. They do allow you to bring in food from the outside and provide tables to use. There is a separate area for ages 2 and below.

I walked into the art corner first. There were so many started projects and scraps on the tables it felt uncomfortable to sit anywhere. The paint brushes were yucky and very little paper to paint on. We went on. The chair in the library is filthy. The bank made little sense. Yes, there were other fun things to do. When I saw one of the workers in the art space later I told her what I thought of the mess. She said they wouldn't know it was a mess unless someone told them. Really, you can't walk over once an hour? And beware, the art space closes an hour before closing. Expensive for what you get. Great ideas but things need to be cleaned and/or replaced. Broken pretend juke box, why not discard it?

This activity will keep your toddler or preschooler busy for an hour or 2. Located in a strip mall, it's an unusual location makes it appear less of Museum and more of a play place. This is one of four of the "hands on" play museums of Children's Museum of Richmond. There are play areas; grocery, diner, bank, dentist, construction, art & crafts and a few others. It's all located in one giant room so it loses some of the fun exploration experience that you get with a "regular" museum. Just like the main museum in Richmond, it could use more play items and more staff to be constantly cleaning and reorganizing. You do have to wear wrist bands after you pay your entrance. I'd like to see some safety by band markings that when you leave the staff knows the child belongs to you.
