I recently booked a Mallows Bay "Ghosts of the Potomac" guided kayak tour for a group of 16 friends and coworkers. Judy, our trip coordinator and guide, was very helpful and gave us great tips to make the trip more enjoyable for our group of experienced and inexperienced kayakers. She suggested booking at low tide so we had better visibility... More

In early June I tried to book a sunset kayak tour for July 3rd, when I was going to be in DC visiting my daughter and son-in-law. The date didn't show on the calendar, and this should have been the first red flag- so I emailed to company and got a prompt response from Judy who said she'd put that... More

We did a Smithsonian tour with Atlantic Kayak. Jody, who is the owner, is very knowledgeable about the area, which was the lost fleet on the Potomac. The kayaks were all doubles, her staff were very nice and we had water and a treat. VERY ENJOYABLE!

My son and I took a kayak tour of Mallows Bay, MD with the Smithsonian Associates on July 14. The tour was lead by Judy Lathrop, owner/operator of Atlantic Kayak. Ms. Lathrop was personable, professional, and well informed about the history of Mallows Bay, one of the largest ship graveyards in the world. The weather was warm and sunny with... More

Atlantic led a Smithsonian Resident Associates kayak tour at Mallow's Point Park in Charles County, MD. They were excellent. Judy, here Atlantic associates, the equipment, the teaching, the exploration of the WWI wrecks in that part of the Potomac, all added up to a great trip, the very hot weather notwithstanding.

Relatives from out of state and I sought something other than the usual tour of the National Mall. At Atlantic Kayak, we found relaxation, education, and exercise within minutes of DC. Our guide, Judy, proved welcoming, knowledgeable, and accommodating. She invited our family to select the type and degree of tour (natural environment and/or human history) we wanted her to... More

I have lived in the DC area for 17 years. My husband and I just took up kayaking this summer. We regret waiting this long. Piscataway Creek is a true national treasure. Our guide (Judy) shared her wealth of knowledge both about the history and the flora and fauna. We saw a Bald Eagle flying and landing, numerous King Fishers... More

Took advantage of a Travelzoo coupon and did the Sunset tour. Enjoyed so much we did again in Oct. Have done other DC area kayak tours and this one was the most professional. Group size was manageable (people not ramming into you). Guides very knowledgeable about the area, the wildlife that you're looking at and about kayaking. Boats, paddles and... More

I head to Atlantic Kayak often with friends who rent. There rental equipment is decent (I've rented far worse stuff at other locations) and paddling on Piscataway Creek is quite nice. You are going to see a wide variety of wildlife, and, if you are lucky, the beavers that live out there.
