If you are a museum person you will enjoy this old, three story building jam packed with exhibits. It features a working soda fountain as part of an antique pharmacy. The cabinets, drawers and shelves are complete with antique medicine bottles and boxes. Other exhibits change but you will always find uniforms, other clothing, firearms and implements from the 1800's.... More

A few of the exhibits jump around in time. But the photos are good wish there was more on the early history of the town. Cost is low. There are two stories of exhibits and my teenagers were a little bored about half way through the exhibits.

I was apart of the previous persons experience. Having went through the museum wanting to purchase items. Ended up waiting a long time and then putting the items down because the other staff did not even move or try to assist with it.

We wanted to purchase some gifts in the Gift Shop, but there were 5 of us waiting and waiting and they would not come check us out. We were told that the girl who was supposed to wait on us was busy on the 3rd floor. We all put our items down and left without our gifts.

My 8 year old girl and 11 year old boy loved this museum. They have several great pieces in the museum. My kids thought the hangman's noose was neat. There was a science based on how tall and how much you weighed to determine how long your rope was. The kids said that they would love to go back, so... More

The museum had actors portraying judge and Mrs. Parker. They had interesting stories they had researched and told. The museum had interesting information for the community and the original courtroom furniture.

A good way to learn some history of Fort Smith, AR. Good for all age groups. A nice place to take out of town visitors.

Worth a visit but there is so much there you would need a week. Too many items are on display which makes it confusing. It is good to have the information on the displays but there is too much writing. After a while it becomes hard work. There appears to be an audio tour but this wasn't offered at the... More

Rather boring with no interaction and quite a sad, quiet place. There is masses of history here but so much is left unexpressed..

The Fort Smith Museum of History is chock full of stories about the founding and growth of the town from the 1700s through today. There is wonderful tribute to African Americans and Native Americans and women. See some historical artifacts and costumes spread over two floors of exhibits. It is easily accessible to the mobility impaired individual.
