This was a gift from our son. We were very excited to try it. I think it could have been fun IF it had been less crowded.we were packed in like sardines…couldn’t see a lot of what was going on and it was nothing but carbs and more carbs. Chef is likable, talented, down to earth with real world suggestions and informative. Clearly, they also charge premium prices for alcohol to improve the bottom line and $5 for a Diet Coke — really? Our bar bill ( none of us are big drinkers) was $105 —- two Pinot Grigio @$22.50 each. Big disappointment. Big bucks for a mediocre evening.

“Thank you and we appreciate the feedback. In order to give everyone the best opportunity to participate, we limit our public class size to 16pp which is proportionate to the size of the space and architecture of the kitchen. We also work in group projects and make every possible effort to get the class involved to their level of comfort. We want this to be a fun and nonintimidating experience regardless of their cooking experience. Some guests want to be involved more than others and we want everyone to have a wonderful time and a great meal.
The couples class (Date night) includes four courses: crab soup, local fish, filet mignon and chocolate mousse. The full menu is posted on the website and at the point of sale. It does include sides of risotto and roasted root vegetables, but I am not sure if that qualifies as ‘carb heavy.’ But as posted on the website, we always happy to make dietary accommodations including low carb diets.
A glass of house wine is complimentary as is posted in the course description on the website. We also offer the restaurant’s wine and cocktail list in cooking school as a courtesy and convenience to guests. The pricing is the same in all areas of the hotel and commensurate with similar local properties.
We obviously missed on your expectations and for that I apologize. If you ever would give us a chance and try again, I would be happy to do my very best to get you involved and deliver an exceptional experience. Please feel free to reach out and I will make that happen.”

We had around 26 people on our evening and Jason did an amazing job of organizing, teaching and delivering a timely meal. Everyone participated along with learning some new skills in the kitchen. On top of that it was probably one of the best meals we had during our stay. Heidi, Jason's assistant, did a great job has a bubbly personality and always prompt in filling your glass.

We had a great time at the 700 cooking school. Chef Jason was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. He was funny and kept the class moving at a good pace. We never felt rushed and he answered all our questions. I learned some new knife skills too. All the ingredients were fresh and/or local to the extent possible in February. The food (and wine) was delicious! I have already made savannah red rice and succotash since coming home! This was just the experience I was looking for to add to my repertoire of regional recipes. I would highly recommend this class.

We did the farmers market/brunch tour. Jason our guide/instructor was very patient and informative during our market tour. Then we returned to the cooking school in the hotel to put our skills to work with our purchases from the market. Jason was very professional and made sure that everyone was participating in the prepping and cooking of our meal. Kudos to Jason! His assistant, Haley was very kind and helpful as well. I reccomend this class highly as my wife n I have taken numerous cooking classes

Who knew 'Learning to cook new dishes' could be so much fun. It was. Chef Jason Winn was great leading us through the Farmer's Market in Forsyth Park (and planning the menu as we traveled) and then sharing all of his culinary skills with us. Great day, Great Lunch.

We had the best time attending Jason's cooking class during a girl's weekend in Savannah! We did the Italian cooking night, and this was our favorite thing that we did by far. I learned a few new easy cooking tips, and the food was delicious. Very fun, relaxing vibe. House wine is included in the price, or you can pay to do a flight that comes out with each course in the meal. Definitely recommend this for anyone that visits Savannah!

We signed up for a Valentine's Day "romantic menu" cooking class hosted by Chef Jason, as part of a weekend getaway in Savannah. There were 9 other couples, and we all had a blast. 4 courses of fresh, local ingredients; a relaxing and welcoming vibe; a well-appointed kitchen; and a truly delicious meal with everyone pitching in. It felt upscale without being snobby and the recipes were inventive but accessible, like they could be replicated at home with some effort but didn't require any special equipment or skills that would have been totally out of reach of a home chef. The evening was about 2 hours of prep and cooking, 1 hour of plating and eating. We really enjoyed our night and would 100% do it again!

We did the Farmers’ Market brunch class, and had a wonderful experience. Chef Jason was personable, and made our trip to the Farmers’ Market really interesting as he introduced us to the vendors and shared about their operations. He shared lots of interesting knowledge about the selections he was making, and then when we got back to the cooking school with our finds from the market, he came up with a great brunch menus complete with fresh popsicle mimosas. The whole class participated in prepping and the meal was so delicious - It was the highlight of our trip. Our class was full, so it was a little difficult to be able to see everything that he was doing to prepare the meal, but he was great about answering follow up questions and sharing “how to” tips while he was serving us and after class. Added bonus is the Mansion is a beautiful setting as well!

Cooking is definitely not my "calling" but my husband and I decided to take the pasta-making class while visiting Savannah for a conference. The atmosphere for absolutely wonderful and the interactions with Jason and others in the class was really fun! While my husband was truly engaged, I enjoyed just sitting back, drinking wine, and eating bread! It was a wonderful experience for both of us and we'll definitely consider taking another class should we visit this area again.

I booked this class for my first night and it was amazing. The actual cooking experience is done as a group and everyone is involved. Jason gives step by step instructions in a very relaxed environment. He offers great tips and the final product is incredibly delicious. I met wonderful people during this experience and would definitely want to try the other classes they offer.

Can you preview the actual menu ahead of time? I would love to take a class but I'm a bit of a picky eater so I want to make sure it's worth it. Thinking about taking the Southern table class.

Apologies in the delay. Most of the menus will the executed exactly as advertised, although we occasionally have to make substitutions for seasonality and quality.

I have a group of 20 friends coming down for a Girl's Weekend in the fall. Is it possible to have a class where you are preparing southern cuisine?
Written January 23, 2019
Good day Savannahmom2,

Please feel free to reach out to our hotel's concierge at her email-yvonne.wilemon@kesslercollection for information and pricing. Hope to see you and your group soon!

Hi this sounds great! How do you get the recipes, via email or hardcopy printouts at the class? If via email, how long does it take to receive? I'm looking to book a class right before a family function and would like to try out the recipes:)
Thanks!
Written June 20, 2016
Sorry for such the late delay, I email the recipes to you after you take the class.

We were thinking about the grilling class but I have a 12 year old who would not be participating. Would she be allowed to go and just watch? Would there be a charge for her?
Written June 19, 2016
Your daughter is invited to come to participate in the class if you want her to eat some of the food that would be fine with a small additional fee.

I was thinking of surprising my husband with the 700 Drayton Cooking Class since we will be staying there and it will be super convenient. My question is my husband is a retired chef. He worked in the industry for many years and now enjoys cooking at home. Do you think this class would be too basic for him? I have read multiple reviews on TA and everyone raves about the class but I'm not sure what level it is at and if he will be bored. Please help! Thanks for everyone's comments in advance.

Frankly, I think the school would be a little bit basic for a retired chef. You might call ahead and see if they would be able to put together a peer-to-peer class of some sort.

How do I find out about the cooking school? Our anniversary is Dec 28th and would love to attend? or 29th?

The fees and times vary depending on the course. I did a Saturday day course, it was $125 per person. Well worth. Brian Russo was great
