Captain Steve and his son Zach were the perfect hosts for a terrific sailboat experience. They were very professional and had great personalities throughout our time on the water. We truly had such a great 4 hour trip and we didn’t want it to end. We saw many dolphins and beautiful coastal scenes. They were able to give us a lot of information and fun stories about sailing. We would highly recommend the sunset tour as the views were beautiful and it was the perfect weather and time of day out on the water. I will definitely be back in the warmer months too so I can go swimming off the sailboat. Captain Steve is the nicest, best host and his sailboat is very comfortable. We brought a small picnic and had an enjoyable dinner while sailing.

Overall, such an amazing experience. I will definitely be back to do another trip with Steve and Zach. Thank you so much Compass Sailing!!

We planned this tour a month out and a bit scared things would be booked up. We were lucky that we got a spot in and even luckier to have met up with Steve. Just being on the water was a joy, but he offered to have us steer the sailboat for a bit. It was wonderful to be able to feel as if we were learning how to sail, even if it was in a very limited capacity. Trading stories with Steve was really fun and we had a great rapport. Overall, it’s a fun adventure you must sea!

Our family got to experience a very enjoyable and relaxing boat trip along the Wilmington River with Compass Sailing. We got to hear all of Captain Steve’s sailing stories, and history of the area. Both he and Zach are very knowledgeable and professional and have a great sense of humor. Our entire family had a wonderful time, and we definitely would go again and highly recommend him if you’re looking for a sailing experience while visiting Savannah.
Thank Captain Steve and Zach for a memorable experience!

About 30 minutes into our cruise with Captain Steve, I realized how badly I needed a vacation. Worries about work and covid melted away with the views of the dolphins, the sea, and the silence (except for the little bit of welcome wake) under sail. A knowledgeable and funny skipper, Steve made us feel welcome, safe, and entertained.

I would 100% recommend booking a cruise with Compass. It made our vacation!

Captain Steve and 1st Mate Zach welcomed us aboard and made us feel at home. I have previously lived aboard a sailboat, but has been 15 years since I have sailed. We swapped sailing stories, discussed experiences, and reminisced about places we had all been. They welcomed our participation in sail handling and taught my young daughter some things, allowing her to hoist the main sail.
It was an incredible time that brought back memories and feelings I haven't had in years. I highly recommend taking a sail with them.

Captain was great, very nice and toured us around the Georgia inlets. The wind wasn’t very good for sailing until we were about to go back in. The captain took us back out so we could experience the true sailing and he didn’t disappoint. The dolphins were very cool to watch and it nice to have a cooler onboard with our snacks and drinks! Would recommend!

We (adult couples) had an amazing afternoon aboard the Zingara with Captain Steve and Zack! We laughed A LOT and Steve & Zack were laughing with us or making us laugh! (Okay... They may have laughed AT us a few times, too!) It helped that we had a picture perfect day with wind and lots of sunshine! All of which was ordered up by Steve himself. They had total command of their boat and we felt safe at all times.

We brought food and drink and they supplied the bathroom below deck. (Always good to know that info.)

This tour will be the first thing I book if we go back again!

This is a great, relaxing way to spend an afternoon. We scheduled the 4 hour tour, but the wind and tide weren't cooperating with us so we didn't make it too far past the mouth of the river. If you have time and want to get more into the open ocean, I'd recommend the 7 hour trip. Steve was very accommodating. My wife and I steered the boat and helped rig some of the sails, but for half of the trip we sat up on the bow, listening to the wind blow through the sails and the quiet peace that accompanied that.

Capt Steve and his son Zach are exceptional hosts. This was our party of 6's first experience sailing and they were very patient with us and answered all of our questions. Steve kept in contact with us letting us know the status of our weather dependent sailing. We had several dolphin sightings and they accommodated my wish for photographic opportunities. If you've never sailed before, we were all struck by how soothing, relaxing and peaceful the experience is. It is truly a balm to the soul especially after the tension of the last 20 months (for those of us who didn't have to work :) . Hope to visit again during manta ray mating season. Will definitely book again with Capt Steve if we do.

Fantastic experience from start to finish.
Captain Steve was accommodating to plan with, full of local knowledge , very easy going. Our teen sons are sailors and Captain Steve let them take the helm. Absolute blast of a day! We hold the record for earliest charter swim off the boat haha . Highly recommend
