I love touring cemeteries. I enjoy looking at the ornate stones etc. This tour spent way too much time talking about the deceased. Spent at least 15 minutes talking about Mercer, if not longer. Way too much time talking about Gracie’s grave and the money found on the ground. Didn’t cover as much ground as I would have liked for 2 hour tour.

It was incredible to have such a knowledgeable (and funny and interesting) guide Richard show us Bonaventure Cemetery. The cemetery itself is beautiful but hearing the love stories, the tragic stories, the meanings of the headstone designs made this an incredible part of our visit to Savannah. Our guide was also very respectful of those buried there as he made certain gestures to pay his respects. It was a beautiful walk through a beautiful property.

There is a little Gift Shop just before the Cemetery. It is worthwhile to buy the Map of the Cemetery. I did alot of research before we left for our trip to Savannah; so therefore I was able to tell my Husband stories of the People buried there. It is a stunning, beautiful Cemetery with such a variety of Statues and Tomb stones. Wished we would have had more time there. If you are a "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", stop at the office at the Cemetery and they will tell you were to find Danny Hansford Gravesite. (It is in a different Cemetery).
