Unlike most carriage drivers in Savannah, Jennifer was born and raised here. Due to this, she has more extensive knowledge of the town than most carriage drivers. I asked her many questions and she patiently answered them all. Great value for $25 a person.

Have always wanted to take a city carriage ride, glad I picked Plantation! Prices were better than some of the other carriage rides in town. Ride lasts approximately fifty minutes and goes around a large area in the center of the historic district. Guide was extremely knowledgeable and added a bit of fun to the ride as well. I highly recommend you ride with Plantation. They are located a couple blocks from city market. (There are many carriage operators...look for plantation).

We were told they start at 10, looked online nothing until 11. Were lead to believe we would see more homes, but didn't. Thought it was a little pricey for what we did. Take a walk, will see more.

If you’re looking for a punctual carriage ride, I would not choose this company. We were scheduled for a tour at 11:00am on January 1st. I called the office 10 minutes before the scheduled time to make sure we were in the correct place as their directions on where to be are EXTREMELY confusing. No one answered so I left a message. At 11am, our scheduled time, no one had returned my call and no carriage in sight. At 11:10 I found another couple and their children waiting for the same tour who were just as frustrated as we were. They also attempted to call the office to no avail. I called again and still didn’t get an answer. Around 11:20 I called yet again and a female answered. She seemed to be extremely bothered by the fact that I called to inquire about the carriage. She cut me off and stated that the carriage was “right around the corner”. The carriage finally arrived at 11:32. The guide gave no explanation or apologies for being late. The guide was not welcoming at all and made snide remarks to myself and the other passengers as we loaded. Once everyone loaded we began the tour, at approximately 11:45. The ONLY positive comment that I can leave is that the guide was very informative and she did answer questions that were asked. The tour itself does not last a hour. Once you factor in the several long stops they make to “water the horses” and stopping time for intersections, then you get right at a hour on the carriage. I give two stars just for the historical information that the guide shares.

I booked a 7:00pm tour, and I arrived at 6:50pm at the southeast corner of Ellis Square (Congress and Barnard) where specified to meet and check-in on the confirmation email. I waited until 8:00pm, and nobody ever arrived. I called twice, and there was no answer, and the voicemail disconnected me because it is full, so I could not even leave a message. I did email them and explain the situation, with no reply. I did not receive any calls, texts, or emails indicating that my tour had been cancelled or moved locations. I am extremely upset as I not only invested my money, but also my time which is valuable while on vacation. I tried walking around the entire square multiple times to ensure I didn’t miss anyone/anything for the tour. At this point, I have contacted Plantation Carriage Tours over 24 hours ago and have not received a response or a refund.

We booked a carriage tour for 5 people. At 1:05 a.m. the day before our trip, we received an email telling us we were to be refunded, with no explanation as to why. I tried calling and their voicemail was full. I sent an email later that day, and another phone call to no avail. The day after our trip we received a request to rate our experience. We still have not heard from the company...or seen the refund. I would think twice before booking with this company!

We booked a tour on our 10th anniversary trip
to Savannah. We received an email telling us where we were to be picked up, etc..
That time comes and goes with no carriage. I call the company, no answer, the voice mail is full. Now I know why the voicemail is full because other People are having the same experience. The locals tell us the company went out of business. The website does not say this
And their billing system certainly works. We did get a refund, but we had already filed a complaint
With our bank.
This company should do the responsible thing and shut down their website and billing. The fact that people’s vacations are being interrupted by the hassle of dealing with this is ridiculous.

No communication from them even though they took my money. I have called and called and the voice mail is full. I have emailed 3 times and no response. Looks like they were not even running when our reservation was - or the entire 4 days we were in town because no one was at the meeting point. I will be contacting the better business bureau to report and see if I can get a refund.

Our tour started out enjoyable, our guide Molly was personable and very knowledgeable. Our horse was calm and responsive to Molly. About 10 to 15 mins. into the ride, the carriage lost the rubber on the first wheel and 5 mins. later, it lost the second rubber. For the next 25 mins. the ride was very uncomfortable, and the steel wheels rolling over uneven concrete and bricks made a lot of noise, and the driver was difficult to hear. I asked Molly about someone coming out to change the wheels and she said they wouldn't do that. She did call someone to report it though. At the end of the ride, the supervisor made no attempt to offer an adjustment on the cost. We definitely would not recommend this tour. The management certainly does not maintain their equipment in the manner sufficient to offer visitors to Savannah a first class experience.

My husband and I had taken a carriage ride in New Orleans just last year and knew it was a great way to get the flavor of the city. We thought to do the same thing in Savannah before heading out on our own. We secured a carriage outside the Like Store on Congress Street. We paid $22 per person and our driver was a cute little girl (little meaning tiny in stature but she was 21 years old) named Pascal (not sure if this was her real name or stage name) driving a carriage pulled by a beautiful horse named Lori. We started off and our driver said nothing. No joke. Nothing. We went several blocks with nothing said. She looked at herself in every window as we went by and fixed her hair and adjusted her hat. Finally my husband asked her a question and she said, "No". That's it. "No". He started to laugh and nudged me and asked her another question to which she answered "No". It became a game. We tried to draw her out and finally we were able to when we switched up the questions that required some more information. After about 10 minutes she started to tell us a little bit about the city. She talked very quietly and we had to strain to hear her. Our ride was supposed to last between 40 and 45 minutes but Pascal kept looking at her little timer and we were back in 30 minutes. My husband tipped her quite a bit just because we laughed at her the entire time. She promptly pulled her bag up and shoved the money in her purse and lit a cigarette.

It really depends on the weather. If it is too hot, they will postpone everything to allow the horses to rest. There were carriage rides available for mid morning until 9:00 p.m. when I was there.

Is there a car parking lot nearby ?
Written August 16, 2016
Yes we parked about 1 1/2 blocks away in a pay lot. There are also metered areas.
