    Cute Area
I stayed in a heavy hotel, so we were often walking through the City Market. It's a little of everything! Souvenir stores, good food, quaint cozy lighting and a welcoming environment. Started my morning here and found it to be one of my favorite areas of Savannah. Put City Market on your list! Don't miss it!

    Worth the visit!
A great place for shopping, dining and people watching. Would have like to have music or live entertainment consistently playing as you stroll through the market. Other than the lack of entertainment in the centre of the market, good vibes all around. A must visit.

    Fun little Hang Out
City Market is almost always a nice little place to hang out, hit a few stores, and grab a bite in the cafe or pizza joint. Located in a nearly perfect spot, you can head one direction and hit River Street, or head the other and hit all of the Main Street shops in downtown Savannah. Plan plenty of time if it’s your first time visiting; there’s a lot to see and much to experience.

The City Market area is all of 2 blocks. There are a bunch of overpriced shops, the Prohibition Museum and a few expensive restaurants. Anything you want to buy here you can get a lot cheaper somewhere else as you are paying the City Market tourist price. It will take maybe 5 minutes for you to walk the entire area. There are nicer areas and attractions in town to spend those 5 minutes.

We visited Savannah April 25-28th, 2022. We were really looking forward to our visit there to see historic Savannah. We've visited Charleston SC several times and have really enjoyed Charleston...unfortunately, we can not say the same about Savannah. While we are glad we went, we have no interest in ever going back.

The Negatives:
1. Surprised and very disappointed how dirty the city is. I understand there are lots of tourists, but a city the lives off of tourism should clean up its act. It just felt grimy everywhere.
2. The homeless: Yes they are everywhere, but more here than I've seen in any other tourist area. I even got hit up for money in a Whole Foods. I would not feel that safe walking in some of the areas at night.
3. It's dark: At least seems that way to us. I'd contribute that to SCAD. We did not feel good about being there.
4. The Trolly Ride: We did the entire 15 stop trolly ride because we wanted to get as much in as possible. While you do learn some history, when you are riding in a trolly car with a big roof on it, you can't look up to see the wonderful and beautiful architecture/homes.

The Positives:
1. Walking Tour through Genteel and Bard: By far the best part of our trip and well worth it.
2. Mrs. Wilkes: Awesome down home country cookin' and eating with people you don't know.
3. Boars Head restaurant was also very good.
4. Wormsloe Historic Site was beautiful and enjoyed our walk through the grounds there.

No need to go here. Belford's was the worst - nearly empty and would not let us have drinks on their patio and gave us a 'story' of why not. Irritating at best. We did find a place for a cocktail outside, Wild Wing. Our server was working the entire place by herself - thank you! If not for her, we would have never sat down. Apparently this place is only for tourists and not great.

Unique specialty shops and food venues and bars... many specialty shops and more! Outdoor and Indoor dining offered... Live music on the weekends.
This is a neat place to walk, hang out or dine! Always a place to have a drink. All are in a decent place for good times, food, fun and drinks; shopping too~ Recommend....

A bit disappointing. It is small - couple of blocks total - and oriented more on adult food and drink than anything else. This is some good food, stores for the kids, and art stores. A lot of interesting people around, if you’re into people watching. But if you are looking to browse shops, I would try some of the other areas in Savannah.

Savannah is my favorite getaway. My husband and I have visited many, many times and mainly just enjoy the history and scenery. City Market has always been one of our favorite hangouts due to some decent restaurants and bars, but during our most recent stay we realized that area has severely gone downhill. It’s dirty, sketchy, and no longer feels safe after dark. Hopefully something is done to restore it to its original charm.

The city market is a few blocks of quaint shops and restaurants. It’s not a flea market or open air market but an area of local shops and eateries in a beautiful downtown area. Lots of places to sit and have a drink or grab a bite and shop. It’s a nice little area!

We only saw a small portion of this large blocked off area unfortunately, but still fit a bunch in. We ate at a superb restaurant there. Went to a museum, pet shop, kitchen shop, and a candy shop. There’s tons of shops. Several restaurants. It’s cool to watch the big bicycle carts ride around the area too. It was a very happening area on a mid-August Friday afternoon.

Memorial Day weekend was a disappointment. Good size crowds and getting a meal was tough. Belford's was especially disappointing. They were turning away potential customers 45 minutes before their normal closing time. You'd think they'd stay open for as long as necessary on a busy night. Other area restaurants were just as disappointing. There was some entertainment in the open area which was nice. Crowds weren't practicing social distancing very well. The area is dog friendly. The shops were great. Just really disappointed in the restaurants there and in the vicinity.

After visiting the Charleston City Market I was looking forward to the same kind of experience here. I was disappointed. The area is small with a few unexceptional shops and the prohibition museum. Overall, not worth the time for a specific visit. Just worth a walk thru as you're passing by.
