The island is uninhabited and only assessable by boat. The beach is beautiful. The boneyard on the end of the island is a great example of erosion and even better for pictures. Remember this is an animal sanctuary, so you are responsible for removing everything you brought on the island (including your trash). I definitely recommend visiting Wassaw Island if... More

We took a motorboat here and anchored offshore and swam to the beach. It was really beautiful and undisturbed, and only a few other people were out walking around. There are lots of shells and horse shoe crabs washed up on shore! Our dog loved it too. The water is very warm at this time of year.

We like seeing all the natural habitats, and the alligators, too. The museum has a walking path, and the location is well maintained.
