If you haven't visited this beautiful city, it's impossible to explain how important these originally designed squares are to the identity of this beautiful city. Each of the squares are unique and very worthy of a visit. We don't believe there's another city in the country that has done a better job of perserving and celebrating its history, and this square is a delightful and peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of 21st century life.

The Hamilton-Turner Inn, where we stayed, is on Lafayette Square. The Square is just beautiful, as are all of the squares in Savannah. Savannah is one of the most beautifully laid out cities we've ever been in and that's mainly because of the squares. Each one has its own "personality" with monuments, benches, landscaping and shade. Just a great place to sit, relax, read and/or just take in the surroundings and people. There are homeless in Savannah and it's hard to find a square where a homeless person isn't sitting or laying on a bench. We never felt in danger or uncomfortable and Savannah seems to be managing the homeless issue far better than SFO or other cities. If you haven't been to Savannah GO!!

I walked around Lafayette Square several times during my visit to Savannah in June 2021. The square has a beautiful green fountain in the middle which is illuminated during the evening. The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is one of the key sights on Lafayette Square. Another is the Andrew Low House. If you really want to enjoy Savannah, all you need to do is walk around the squares and choose a different route each time.

Very dirty park now. A lot of open drug use by what appears to be homeless people living in the park. Years ago the park was absolutely stunning. Now this area is unsafe to even walk in. Found used needles all over the grounds. People openly smoking marijuana in the park. Don’t take your kids to this area.

All of the squares are beautiful and unique. They are best seen by putting on your comfortable walking shoes and seeing them on foot. Even from the tour busses, which are great, you do not see so much of the detail in the old homes.

Beautiful square, I think this is one of my favorites. While the square itself is amazing, the homes and church are also beautiful. Each way you turn, there’s something to see. I love coming here to sit and take everything in.

We walked to 20 of the 22 squares. Lafayette square is well landscaped and maintained. Off the main street, Bull Street, so less foot traffic. Shaded by large live oaks, draped in Spanish moss. We saw several weddings in the squares. Lafayette Square is a great place to sit for a minute or more and take in Savannah. Also, close to St. John's Basilica if you are waiting to tour.

There are a couple dozen squares in Savannah, but this one is far and away my favorite. Not sure why, but I love the fountain in the middle, and the cool surrounding buildings. As a photographer, this square lends itself well to great photos.

Unwind yourself in this square and pay respect to the great man after whom it is named. We took our, and other people's, trash with us. So many people leave behind tsingle use plastic everywhere.

The Lafayette Square is another beautiful park like tree covered square. This square has St John the Baptist Cathedral and beautiful residential homes surrounding it.
