About
The oldest continually operated Saloon in North America dating back to the late 1700s. The only Licensed alcohol establishment in Maryland to exist before, during, and after prohibition. The Horse you Came in on Saloon has been at the heart of Baltimore's local live music scene for over five decades. Hosting over one-thousand live music performances per year, you're certain to catch some great local live acoustic tunes on during your stay. Offering a full lunch and dinner menu featuring a combination of classic pub fare, south of the border favorites, and local crab-centric items such as our Crab Pretzel, and Angus Certified Philly Crab Cheesesteak. The portions are generous, so come hungry. Local legend has it that "The Horse" was a favorite drinking spot for the talented American author and Poet, Edgar Allan Poe. The facts around Mr.Poe's death remain a mystery; however it has been suggested and believed by many that The Horse You Came In On was his last stop before his passing. Through the years many employees & patrons alike have experienced what they believe paranormal activities at the hand of Mr.Poe (some employees, going as far as resigning from their duties). The Horse is the largest on premise Jack Daniel's Bar in the state of Maryland. Per square foot, the most Jack Daniel's is consumed within our four walls than any other pub, saloon, or tavern in the WORLD. Check out our Jack Daniel's Club with over Five Hundred Members and or try one of our Home-Made Jack Daniel's Infused spirits. We welcome you to check us out, grab a cold beer, try some Maryland crab dip and enjoy live local music in our homey & Historical atmosphere. Open at 11 A.M. Daily for Lunch and Live Entertainment, saddle up & stay a while.

Great "Old Timey" Saloon
Jan 2020
Great little Saloon with an "old timey" feel to it. Bar staff are attentive and live music was on point. Drinks were a bit pricey, but I'm not typically much of a drinker.

The oldest continually operation saloon in the country

This saloon in Fells point is in the heart of one of the jewels of Baltimore. Fells Point is an historic neighborhood, with cobble stone streets, historic homes, live music and excellent restaurants. The horse you came in on was Edgar Allen Poes favorite hang out.

I stumbled upon Fells Point while in Baltimore and equally stumbled upon this bar. I wanted to try National Bohemian, Baltimore's known beer and walked in due to the live music that was playing and the decor. Very cool bar! Great music, great beer and great environment! Love!

Great Old Bar
Sep 2019
This place is really cool inside and you can feel all of the history.. For that alone worth stopping to grab a drink. The server we had was not very friendly and observing the others, nobody looked very happy. Also beer prices are outrageous! Over $15 for 2 Coronas's which is unbelievable. Been to bars all over the country from dive bars to upscale bars and have never paid over $7 for a Corona. A Natty Boh draft was $6. Good to stop by for a drink, listen to some music but you will have to declare bankruptcy after you leave.

Cool atmosphere with live music!

The bar is historic and has such a cool atmostphere, with saddle seats and several rooms to sit in. I loved the live music late afternoon with affordable happy hour drinks. I highly recommend visiting here if you come to Baltimore!

LOUD but fun place
Jul 2019 • Family
Don't let the looks of this place deceive you. It looks a bit rough but it was a good stop This place claims to be the last place Edgar Allan Poe had a drink before his mysterious death which was our draw. Once you get past the stoic bouncer you enter the first section of the pub. There were high top tables and live music. We sat in the second section as we wanted to eat. There is a second type of loud music playing in this section but it's in constant competition with the music in the first section. It made us a little batty having two songs playing 90% of the time. We ordered chicken tacos, steak tacos, chicken tenders and nachos. The food was great and filling. Take time to read the signs hanging all over.
Our waitress Alena was awesome. She was helpful and quick. She had a great personality. She was always hustling to make sure her customers were taken care of.

Called in on the strength of reviews on Trip and were they right. Our first visit was just as they opened and we were on our own for the time we were there, but the saloon is a little cracker, seats at the bar resembled saddles, the barmaid was very nice and friendly and the drinks were cold, what more do you want on a hot day. We enjoyed it so much we called back the day after later in the afternoon, couldn't get near the bar and had to sit in the back room, still the one barmaid who made it look so easy looking after the bar and back room and with live music good beer and great ambience a great place to visit.
