This vessel showed pieces of back in time. I was shocked on how big the main deck was and how empty. It really took you to the historical point and how interesting it would have been. It was a windy day which made you hear the sound of the wood cracking of the ship’s voices. I was filled with sadness but intrigued with the “ what is was like” if I part of the crew. Three levels that took you on a journey of disparity and triumph. The cannons were powerful and the sleeping courters were of sound. The second floor stern was the most coldest part of the ship. Check it out and you will see why. Definitely a must do at least once when at the harbor.

Many interesting historical facts. Take your time and read inside the air conditioned visitors center. Then go up to the boat. 4 levels wonderfully restored. Careful to duck below decks if you are over 6 feet tall. Ask questions of the people on the top deck. They know their stuff.

Was visiting the Inner Harbor during the holidays and visited the USS Constellation which is docked there. Although we weren't able to get one board it was still worth the visit and there was plenty to see from the dock.

Our family of four really enjoyed touring the ship. Our eight year old‘s highlight of the day was helping to pull the cannon into place before they fired it (scheduled at 11:45 am). Both boys enjoyed testing out the crew hammocks and exploring all four levels. Ringing the bell on deck was an added bonus!

When walking along the promenade of the inner harbor along the northern edge of the promenade, one has no choice but to walk past the USS Constellation anchored alongside the promenade. It has obviously been restored, refurbished, and repainted; and looks as good as it did the day it was first launched 164 years ago, which actually was a little disappointing. Looking a little battle-worn might have given it a more realistic look. Walking past it and taking some pictures left me with the feeling of “nice”, but not more than that. Perhaps if I had been with my American high school buddies and not my Asian-born wife I might have been convinced to go aboard and tour it.

If you enjoy things from the past, the Constellation is a wonderful tour. It is in the harbor and there are a great deal of things to do there.

We had already done several things and it was a very hot day, so we considered skipping the USS constellation. I am so glad that we did not. The ship itself is neat and they have lots of signs to tell you what you were seeing and how the sailors lived. But, there are several actors on board who can tell you even more and make the visit much more interesting. Like how they performed surgery, or how they fought, or how they cooked and ate, or how they figured out their position and speed, etc. So, much better than just walking through an old ship.

I had been here as a child but really enjoyed it more as an adult. Great history lesson. It was a great day for some learning.

Having just finished a book discussing the original frigate, USS Constellation, I was actually surprised to discover that the overall design and layout was not much different. The whole Captain’s quarters occupying one end of the ship is the same for both ships. The surgeon area was the same on both ships and called the cockpit on the original frigate. Back then, there were many amputations and I had a little trouble visualizing attempting this in the cribs used for the wounded.

Well, we went in the mid summer, I am not sure, maybe because of winter in Baltimore it could be closed.
