We attended Fort McHenry Memorial Day weekend. As a "military brat" as well as several our students, we enjoyed the history of our flag. We were also able to participate in the flag raising ceremony and gave quite the goosebumps!

I now feel the words of the Star Spangled Banner. I now look at the American Flag as a symbol (not just a design). Visiting Fort McHenry illustrates the sacrifices of our forefathers and inspires patriotism. One can learn about these things by reading about...More

This important piece of American history is easy to get to, at the southern edge of Federal Hill overlooking the entrance to the Inner Harbor area in Baltimore. The barracks and gun battery emplacements are still intact, with some static recreations to give you a...More

The Battle of Baltimore at Fort McHenry September13-14, 1814, was the inspiration for Francis Scott Key's penning of our National Anthem. The tour of the fort is self paced so you can spend as much or as little time as you want. Before the tour,...More

We stopped in Baltimore before going to DC and so glad we visited the birth place of the star spangled banner. The movie in the visitor center is a must. Our teens got to help with the morning flag too. The fort is just so...More

We visited on a perfect sunny, breezy day. The site is beautiful and well-maintained. The setup was nice and the indoor and outdoor exhibits informative and well done. Easy in and out free parking and you could bring a picnic lunch.

Definitely worth the time if you are in the Baltimore area. I'm a big history buff and learned a lot on this tour and left with a greater appreciation of the significance of the Fort in our nation's history. Museum your takes about 34-40 minutes...More

Ft. Mc Henry makes the history come alive as you see how the battles of 1812 were fought. You can walk through the fort and each building has exhibits.

Purchase a National Parks Pass for $10.00 if you are over 62 years of age. Gets you and up to 4 additional guests (I think) into every National Park for free. Best ten bucks we ever spent!

No, they don't have any scooters, or motorized vehicles. I to have problems getting around. I have taken my power chair there. It gets into most of the places, but it can't get into some parts of the fort.
