I had recently read a book about the Santa Fe trail and the name of this fort was mentioned and so we decided to make it a stop on our road trip. It is a bit out of the way but worth the effort. There...More

We took our family to the Fort Larned National Historic Site. I am highly allergic to wasps, and bees. We could barely go in and look at any of the exhibits as the whole place was swarmed with bees. We were unable to get photographs...More

I was only the third one there the day I visited and one of the rangers met me on the sidewalk. Very interesting place to go to for a windy walk.

A few buildings remain and there is a walking tour through the post. It's worth a quick stop. It will be windy and hot if you visit in summer. It shows how isolated life on the plains must have been.

A very well maintained fort. Original buildings survived through the years to give you a glimpse of what life was like on the Santa Fe trail.

Excellent for class field trips. Museum holds student interest. Very knowledgeable staff and guided tours are best. One of the finest forts in Kansas!
