About
A proper art gallery, not a cluttered up gift shop. The gallery is home to fine art photography by Robert Haspel. A wide variety of subject matter and style is displayed. Robert is a long time (old) photographer that enjoys sharing his work. Sales are secondary, so feel free to visit. Please check out the reviews . . . NOTE: I am a one man show, and for the most part, open daily. Periodically I am away, and the gallery is therefore closed. It's the nature of running a small town business.

My husband and I decided to take that right turn and were so happy that we did. Mr. Haspel is such a talented photographer and a very gracious host. He has a way of turning each photograph into a true work of art, and is willing to take the time to share the story behind the pic. His showcase is definately worth the stop and like us, you may even find a treasure to take home.

We stopped there recently. The artist/photographer R. Haspel spend time talking with us and telling us about his beautiful work. Definitely worth a stop on your trip to Fort Davis, Texas. We will go back again.

Lots of photos, all taken, printed and framed by the gallery owner, Robert Haspel. Topics center around West Texas but some are very creative treatments of everyday items, for example, a sectioned rose.
Interesting and worth a visit. Free.

My husband and I happened on this gallery after visiting Fort Davis. The range of subject matter and photographic techniques is most impressive. The artist, Robert Haspel, makes visitors feel welcome and is generous with his time and knowledge. Well worth a stop!

The photographs are great-take some time to get familiar with the technique he uses. Nice little stop and the owner is engaging.

Robert, the owner and photographer, was lovely to talk with learn about how he creates his images. I found the perfect piece for a space I’ve been looking for for quite a while and now it has also a nice memory to go with it.

My son saw a sign for Robert's gallery while we were road-tripping through Ft Davis. We decided to make a visit and were greeted by Robert at the front door. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with him and viewing his photographs! He is a one-of-a-kind talent and an inspiration ! Worth the trip!

Artist R Haspel has carved a nice niche, offering beautiful framed color photos and gorgeous flower and plant scans for reasonable prices, mostly $500-1000. It was a true treat to meet the loquacious artist and hear him describe the setting and moment for each image, where it was taken, what was happening—each brings unique challenges and opportunities. Although he has electric interests and his imagery includes steam trains, Alaskan rivers and New Zealand waterfalls, much of his work is true to place—he has delivered the goods in capturing some soul shifting images of the Davis Mountains and Big Bend region of Far West Texas. If you come in summer, his gallery is a cool, shady respite from the dry heat, and it may surprise you with its clean interior elegance. Ask for the story of how he transformed the old metal building, or how he and his wife are succeeding with planting beautiful Texas madrone trees right out front—despite his quiet and soft spoken way, Haspel does not skimp on the palaver. :)

Thanks for your post . . . I enjoyed your visit. When visitors open up, it is fun to discuss both my work, and photography in general. I enjoy rambling on about the advantages of digital photography and more importantly the power of post capture processing. Such interaction often helps me see my work in a new way. Having aspects pointed out to me that I had not previously seen or considered, is interesting. I like to ponder . . . To clarify pricing, I have matted work beginning at $35. The most expensive framed piece currently on display is $750. I don't cut corners . . .all work employs conservation materials and framed images use low reflectance "art" glass. Robert Haspel
