If in Astoria and looking for night entertainment take in one of their shangheid shows during the summer months. Or Scrooges in Astoria. We have enjoyed it multiple times with friends and family over the years and it never gets old. Fun way to spend the night and learn some history too

We loved the production the first time we went. Tonight I'm taking my niece, a 10 year old grandniece and a 14 year old grandniece. The actors were very good, and the plot is entertaining. The audience participation, as has been mentioned, is priceless.

Great show, plenty of audience participation, hissing, booing, and throwing popcorn at the bad guys. Don't expect high browse theatre, but do expect to laugh a lot and to have a great time.

I had no idea what to expect from the show... We bought tickets on a whim.. No regrets at all! What a great show! The actors are wonderful! The interaction with the audience is so neat! We had the best time! I think tickets are about $20 which is such a bargain. I've paid $100 for shows that I enjoyed... More

So we really, really enjoyed this local theater production. You could tell from the opening-acts that the local community takes a great deal of pride in this long-running play detailing stories and history of Astoria and its associated industries. We felt the acting was very good (did the old-timer banjo player have a few nips of whiskey pre-play?) and the... More

OK, so it is not "sophisticated" theater (whatever that is) but it is a lot of fun for a really reasonable price. Where else can you hiss at and throw popcorn at villains, cheer for the "good" guys, sigh with the heroine and learn how to smoke salmon (the difficult part is keeping the tail lit....). They must be doing... More

Terrible show. Uncomfortable seats. We left after the second intermission. Don't waste your time and money ($17 pp).

Lots of fun. The play "Shanghaied in Astoria" is extremely corny and includes a lot of audience participation. We had a group of 35 people and everyone loved the show. Some of the actors are very talented and it was clear that they really enjoyed their roles.

ASOC got it's start with a locally written and produced classic musical melodrama "Shanghied In Astoria" which is performed each year to packed houses. Locals rarely miss it.

What a fun place to watch a local production. Very fun place and great family shows and fun for all. It was Shanghaied in Astoria that we went to see and we loved the actors and the audience participation...just a lot of fun, we plan to go back for there Christmas show!
