What can I say about a bridge? It is a beauty to behold, that's for sure. But I'm leaving this for review for anyone who might be terrified at the thought of crossing over this bridge due to its height. When I first saw it I thought there ain't no way I'm getting on that bridge. And, I had no plans to! Unfortunately, fate had something else in store. I used my GPS to get directions to a park I wanted to see, and unfortunately, google maps in all its wisdom took me on a course that put me directly on the onramp for the bridge (the park I wanted was actually right underneath the bridge - thanks google!). Once I was on the on-ramp, there was no turning back, nowhere to turn around. So I held the steering wheel tightly and repeated to myself "you're perfectly safe, you're perfectly safe" until I safely made it to WA. When all was said and done, it wasn't that bad at all. The return trip was nothing. So conquer your fears and do it! The views are spectacular (even if I was too terrified at first to really enjoy it)!

Always a great view as you drive over the Astoria Bridge between Oregon and Washington States. Older bridge with narrower lanes then built now, so be careful with trailers and larger semi-trucks passing.

The bridge was a nice engineering triumph built in a difficult area. It rises quite high in a short distance that may spook some drivers, but it is perfectly safe.

We have lived in Astoria, and still take the drive there often. The Megler bridge is a beautiful way to see the Columbia river and the shores of both Washington and Oregon. It's free to cross, so even if you are not traveling to the other state, do cross and then go back around to check it out.

Have traveled across this beautiful bridge many times both in a car and on a motorcycle. Gorgeous view! Traffic flows quick and easy. It's an icon in Astoria and photographed numerous times.
