We brought our three standard poodles to the dog park. We encountered three Labradoodles while we were there. All six dogs had a great time running chasing and playing. Large Space for dogs to play.

This park has about 5-7 miles of mountain bike trails. The back part of the trails flood during heavy rain. It's right across the road from NAS Jacksonville.

I lived close by on the Westside and this was one of my favorite places to go for a nice hike, or take my camera for nature photography, or for just a nice relaxing afternoon walk.

My husband, dogs and me went for our 2nd hike there yesterday and crossed two very sketchy grungy looking young men. I have to admit I was afraid as some spots on the trail are very remote. I kept looking over my shoulder hoping we were not going to be accosted. I couldn't get out of there quick enough. Don't go by yourself.

I hike a lot, but not usually in Florida, because it's flat and humid. Places like this make Jacksonville more bearable. They have nice trails and a pretty overlook area.

I have written another review sometime ago but thought I would write an update review.

SORBA Jacksonville is a group of mountain bikers who are dedicated the building of quality trails and they have done an amazing job at building new trails and updating old trails at this park.

There is now an advanced trail with huge climbs and big drops. There are also trails for every age and skill level. I would recommend bug spray for the skeeters in the words. They will eat you up.

You will love the new trails. The ride out to the tower is still fun.

There is a nature lodge and a playground area with grills.

Cons: There has a been a recent outbreak of car break ins in the park. Some cyclist are parking at JL Trents on hwy 17 and walking through the gate.

My family loves going to this park to hike. There's a three-story viewing tower that offers a lovely view of the park and a glimpse of water. Bathrooms, a playground, and a dog park add to the local appeal.

This small park was established a and named doe community leader Tillie Fowler almost 30 years ago. It is beginning to show its age. There are two trails, one more longer and primitive than the shorter 1.2 mile trail. The boardwalk is made with treated wood rather than the composite material which withstands the weather. The vines and roots on the footpaths as well as the fraying weed mats are not comfortable for walking for elders who have to watch their footing. There is a staffed Nature Center with a good sized reptile collection. It is also a good location to see a portion of the historical brick highway which passes through the park. There picnic grounds as well as a well maintained children's playground. There is great potential in this park, but it needs some care. It would be a great project for college students to take on.

("Westside Regional Park" = "Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park")

Just across from NAS Jax, this park has a picnic area, playground, dog park, and 3 nice nature trails:

1. "Tower Trail": 1.2 miles roundtrip; access to observation tower and WWI-era "Historic Brick Road" (see photo)

2. "Island Trail": 2.25 miles roundtrip; includes two separate spurs

3. "Off-road Bike Trail": 2.5 miles total

The park is nice and large with lots of trails for hiking or bicycling. Plenty of picnic tables scattered around under shade trees. Playground area for the kids, and a fenced dog park area. A great place to bring a picnic and your bike and enjoy nature.
