Ribault Monument
Oct 2020
The Ribault Monument is located in Timucuan Preserve. It is a simple column which commemorates French explorer Jean Ribault. The monument overlooks the St Johns River and is surrounded by live oak trees covered in Spanish moss. There is a small parking lot below the monument, and it's a short walk to reach the monument. Overall, if you're in the area, it's worth stopping to check out this pretty site.

Quick stop nice views

This is located only about half a mile from Fort Caroline and worth the quick stop. Offers some good information and a really nice view from the bluff.

This is a nice monument in honor to the Frenchman John Ribault who lead the voyage to the mouth of the St. Johns River. Nice stop.

The Bluff on the St Johns River
Nov 2019
The view is impressive from up high. The Bluff and monument can be reached from the parking lot by steps or ramp. Great views of river traffic and the massive waterway system of Jacksonville.

Nothing to see, and nowhere to park to see it.

WHO IS REBAULT. never heard of the guy. Some southernerner that had a lot of money and could afford a monument in the middle of the road. Not even a place to pull off to read who the goofball was?????? when asking a ranger or worker at a nearby attraction, the reply i don't know, but there is a concrete monument you can't miss about him. so guess he wasn't a slave owner, as all them are tore down, and running the public off, trying to change history????

Honors for a French military explorer
May 2019 • Couples
Ribault was the military leader of a group of French, largely Huguenots, who sought freedom from religious persecution from the Catholics in France. He lead the group to develop the first French settlement, Fort Caroline, in the United States. However, between the Indian warfare and the Spaniards attacking, his work only lasted about 2 years in the New World. Ribault and the Huguenots continue to be honored by this column for their bravery.

Gorgeous views over the water from the column. Very nice homes also in the area. Just a few steps up to the Memorial and the views are stunning. Worth a quick visit.

Reconstructed monument and good view
Nov 2018 • Business
A part of Fort Caroline, this is a reconstruction of a monument placed here by the French 450 years ago. The view of the St. John's River from the monument is among the best available.
