Great view and interesting history

Great view from this spot. Interesting history presented. Short flight of stairs to top. Don't miss this when visiting Fort Caroline.

This is just down the road from Ft. Caroline so it is easy to stop at if already at Ft. Caroline. If short on time I would skip it.

This is a quick spot to stop by when visiting Fort Caroline. Very nice views and beautiful trees. It's small and has a nice boardwalk through the trees.

The Ribault Monument provides an excellent view of the St. Johns River. Although there isn't much to see/do at the monument, you don't have to worry about crowds while taking in the spectacular views. The only issue I saw was that the information sign on the overlook needed some cleaning (there was some bird droppings on the sign). Overall, it... More

It is just a small monument but with parking space good for twenty cars! What were they thinking! Anyway, the draw for this monument is the great view of the river below.

The monument is off the trail from the park so you can either walk the trail there or just peep it by driving over to the area. This is free to the public. Gorgeous monument, but it is all that is there other than a nice view. Little kids will get very bored very quickly. For history lovers.

Had no idea that this was the first claimed by the French back in the 1500s. It's a nice column in the middle of the wilderness. They've erected a little park around it and there's a parking lot in the clearing as well.

This site is a short drive from Fort Caroline, there is parking, an easy walk up to the replica stone column, that was originally erected in 1562. Good views of St John's river and you can watch the big ships arriving from all over the world to deliver their goods. Excellent especially when it is free.

As a visitor enters this park they don't quite know what to expect. They step up the stairs and come to the monument. It's not impressive until they gaze upon the beautiful scenery below of the St. Johns River and the properties around the river. The bank below on the right had a very small town in the 1600's where... More

We were out one day exploring. First we went to Ft. Caroline. Then I spotted this from the road. I just had to go and check it out. There was a French man by the last name of Ribault that was in the area at one time. They call this Ribault's Needle. You can see it from Heckshire Drive on... More
