Love this Campground and Park! Would have given it a 4.5 stars if possible.
We stayed in RV site 150, which was a 45’ pull thru site. The site was level, dirt, heavily wooded/shaded, and vegetation on both sides that provided privacy. Our site had full hook ups, a fire pit and picnic table. Our nightly fee was $30. There is NO WIFI at this park; hence the 4 rating instead of a 5. Make sure you bring a water filter or bottled water, the water quality isn’t that great. Cell phone (Verizon) coverage was adequate. Our site was approximately 1,3 miles from the park entrance; about 100 yards to the beautiful lake; and .6 miles to the beach/Atlantic Ocean. The beach area has several parking lots and some have bathrooms. The beach is very nice!
Our RV site, and the park overall, is very clean and well kept. When we arrived, we noticed how clean our fire pit was; much cleaner than most campgrounds.
Some people have commented on the narrow (paved) roads and turns, but we didn’t have any issues with our 32’ foot Class C RV. However, we did unhook our tow vehicle at check-in.
The Park has excellent security. There is a guard at the gate until 10pm, and you need a pass and code to get in after-hours. Even during the day, you need a code (that is changed every Tuesday) to get thru the gate into the campground.
The bath house/public bathroom is dated, but clean and warm.
We had a car with us, but if you decide to use Uber/Lyft, you may want to check with the staff to determine where they are allowed to pickup/drop off. Like I mentioned, it was a mile+ from our site to the main entrance.
There are a lot of bike/hiking trails, playgrounds, laundry, camp store, etc. You can rent bikes and kayaks.. There is a seasonal splash pad. The camp store sells firewood (a bundle is either $7.95 or $9.75}, the usual camp store items, and they also do bike repairs.
Over the air TV reception was excellent and we had the most available channels of anywhere we have ever stayed! Easy to view CBS, FOX, and NBC.
All the staff we encountered here were very friendly and helpful.
This park is one of our new favorite campgrounds and we plan to return.

We drove into Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park around 4:00 pm hoping to get in a late afternoon beach walk before the park closing at 6. The beach was beautiful, but a little too cold and windy for my husband and me. We opted instead for a walk around the large lake and under the forest canopy. We stopped near the children’s playground area to inspect several nearby islands covered in trees showing more white than green. As we drew closer we realized that flocks of white egrets were roosting, flapping, and dancing about on every available branch. As we stood mesmerized by this magical bird show a large flock of juvenile ibis curved around and landed at our feet. We watch the show of many different kind of birds for a long time. We’ll have to come back for the walk. Such an amazing park is one of the benefits we look forward to enjoying as a new Florida resident!

My husband and I booked one of the Cozy Cabins on one of the coldest weekends of the year. I was afraid that the cabin and surrounding area would be freezing. Not at all! The cabin was fully heated, and kept us warm and toasty. The lush foliage surrounding the park kept the temperature at a beautifully slightly chilly temp. The staff were very nice and helpful. The cabin was clean, with a screened in deck and fire pit. Please note: the cabins do not contain any furniture or bedding. You will need to bring an air mattress and your own bedding. The park has a vast array of hiking and mountain biking trails that are surrounded by trees and nature. The beach is just a short walk away from the cabins. We walked on the sand and got to see the gorgeous ocean and sky. The park has a shop where you can purchase neccesary items and can rent bikes and skateboards. It closes at 6pm. Important to note: the bathroom in the middle of the park has very basic, showers that offer no privacy at all. Use the bathroom/showers near the front of the park. They have a private shower that is more accommodating. We spent two nights here and had a fantastic time. Everyone that we met was kind and pleasant. The area was clean and safe. The noise level was low and the other campers were very quiet and respectful.

Dogs are supposed to be on leash; however, the rules are not followed. I have called the office multiple times to complain, and they either do not answer or do not care. I once saw a City oh Jacksonville employee working near a person with three off leash dogs not under any sort of voice control. I called the office, and they actually answered and said they’d call the employee. Nothing was done...employee either ignored instructions or was never called. One day someone or their dog is going to be harmed by an off leash dog, and the city will be liable. If the city cannot afford to maintain the park and enforce the rules, then they should not run it.

I booked MLK Jr weekend after listening to a podcast where this campground got great reviews. We arrived on a windy Friday afternoon. It took us an hour less travel time than we had anticipated. The park is beautiful. Tree lined roads. Hiking and bike riding paths. They have a mile and a half of the ocean. We could hear the waves from our campsite! We set up and because we had booked it so far in advance we forgot it was a pull through (Yay!) and full hook-ups! What?! How could it be? Our fire pit was secluded and perfect for relaxing in the evening. Our neighbors were super friendly Florida natives. The girl at the gate was nice and helpful. The beach is beautiful with white sand beaches and plenty of parking. The lake area was nice. Our only regret? We had to leave Monday morning! We have already booked for July. Basically we could come here every time we camp.

Camp store is horrible, Campground is nice. Be sure to bring everything you need including firewood. The owner of the store charges whatever he wants, blames it on covid even though advertised prices in his windows are lower and does not stand by them. Would recommend going to the stores on Atlantic for all your needs. He camps at the first host site on the right as you pull in the park, he appears to be living well off of his covid customers.

We Stayed at the Campground, this was a beautiful spot ..... even with Covid and Social Distancing you can enjoy yourself. They have many walking trails and bike trailes, a beautiful park on a freshwater lake and then the Ocean is within Biking distance or your can take your car. We will be going back.

Love going to this beautiful park! The beaches are very clean and there's not a whole lot of people. Drove through to see the campground rv parking area and it just looked really cramped in there, not a whole lot of privacy. just seems like they put as many spots as they could in there in order to make the most profit. Too bad because it would be awesome to camp there. For those who don't mind that feeling of being too close to other campers, it would be awesome to camp there!!

The park itself is beautiful and the bike trails amazing! The sites were tight and the campground was full of fun loud people. But it was a holiday and we love fun, just not the loud at all hours part. But OH MY... the campground bathrooms are the worst EVER! I have never seen such nasty bathrooms! Please update and clean!

This was our first visit. I was amazed at the length of the beach and the vast amount of parking. It was fairly empty for our visit since it was still chilly, but I can't imagine it in the hot summer months with all people that come in all the cars to fill up all that parking.
The small fresh water lake provided hours of enjoyment. My husband went fishing and I just wandered with my dog enjoying the huge variety of birds on and near the water.
Watching kids on the playground was fun, for awhile, too.
We stayed in the campground for a couple of days...very nice campground close to the lake.
