Trails: A lot of diversity in the trails. Many of the plants are labeled to help to identify them throughout this park. Very narrow path (2 ft or less) on some trails. So for Covid please note that a mask is not a bad idea, because many times you are suddenly face to face upon other people, literally within inches. We wore our masks at all times but didn't see one other person masked all day. Picnic area: has several tables but no pavilions. Restrooms: There is only one composting toilet for the whole place. Not just one for him and one for her, just one for everyone going here. This is a problem. When we were there on a Monday in October there was almost always a line to use the facility. There is water and electricity in this area, and I think that even though this is a 501c3 non profit, they can find a way to have an appropriate bathroom facility for all, and they make it a priority to do so. Can not even imagine what it must be like to be handicapped and trying to use this. Bottom line: It is free, has great trails, lots of information and education. Parking is kind of limited, so best to go during a weekday when school is in. Picnic area is ok. Bathroom situation is just a half step above a port-o-let. Bring your own hand sanitizer, wipes, and water. Very importantly, please donate. This is a non profit, and is well worth keeping. Looks like they want membership and volunteers. This looks like a good thing for Jacksonville families and residents.

I was introduced to this very low key park by an en plein artistic event several years ago. The terrain is quite varied and it's so peaceful. A must visit!

The Jacksonville Arboretum is a great walk through nature. It is both nice for a short stroll with lots of sitting for those that don;t have the ability to go on a long walk as well as some longer, more adventerous trails.

We had a great time strolling the trails and seeing all the different plants and vistas. With one exception, the different trails were clearly marked (we missed the entry to one side trail but we just went a more circular route). Some of the plants were amazing, including a wild orchid we found off the side of the trail. Most plant varieties were labeled, although not each individual occurrence. We just kept our eyes peeled and often would find the plant labeled further along during our walk. Lots of people were about so we never felt isolated. The roots along the paths were frequently exposed so you do need to watch your step. All in all, it was a delightful spot to spend a few hours.

Outdoor lovers can embrace nature while strolling the many trails. Along the side of the trails are countless plants and trees with the added benefit of being labeled with their name. The signs offer teachable moments for children and adults alike. Wear comfortable shoes that can take a bit of dirt!
