Historic Venue
Nov 2019
I was a little concerned about attending an event at a venue in the downtown area but this was actually a great, historic venue in a safe area. There is a walk-up bar with candy products available to purchase, bathrooms, and convenient parking just around the corner from the venue. I would definitely attend another event here.

Major Overhaul Needed.
Feb 2020
This Theatre Needs Some Serious Renovation. Seats Are Small & Short Length. There Is Holes In The Ceiling & Peeling Paints. The Middle Main Orchestra Section Needs An Open Isle. Easier Access To Seats. Need An Assigned Handicapped Section. Wider Isle.

Beautiful Theatre, Needs More Updated Seats for Legroom
Jan 2020
We attended all weekend long, a Barbershop Winter Contest here. Totally delightful and beautiful but desperately needs updated seats for more legroom. I felt like a giraffe with lots of legroom needed!! My husband's group sang on their bus because there are no rooms backstage to practice in. Very quaint theatre. Staff is very helpful and is aware of the problems there.

Not a bad seat in the house !
Dec 2019
Attended a show here in Dec. 2019 for the first time and was totally impressed. It is a beautiful historic building that is small enough that even balcony seats have a great view. We loved it and would for sure see another show here.

Needs a Modernization
Nov 2019
Saw a comedian there. the acoustics were terrible, I was in 5th row and could barely hear him. Seats are original from the early 1900's and uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Seat rows are too narrow and need to be expanded. We had to go out in aisle to let people in and out of our row. Bathrooms are too small. The architecture was very nice and place has potential but needs to be updated for a more enjoyable experience.

Always Memorable
Jul 2019
Theater serves up a variety of entertainment from movies to live acts to tasting dinners. Yes it's old and the seats are as well but the atmosphere is authentic, acoustics good, parking close by and lots of like minded people. Build in some time because you'll get wanded by security before going in. The bar's on the right but if your'e seated upstairs, there's a bar up there. And yes, you can take your drinks inside. Always memorable and highly recommend.

Have always loved the theatre but...
Jun 2019 • Couples
Really have enjoyed this theater a multitude of times but tonight the customer service could have been more professional. I rudely greeted at "Will Call" by an unfriendly attendant. She was either having a bad day or just like that in nature but not even a smile or a enjoy the show. She was just abruptly asking for my drivers license in an unpleasant demeanor as to get me out of the way. Next was the joy of the security. Now I understand it is new policy that you are NOT allowed to bring a camera in to this theatre but I have done so on more than one occasion in fact a total of 6 times I have brought my small handheld camera inside with no flash. The Security had addressed the fact that I have never brought a camera in and that they have only allowed that for graduations and recitals. I have been to see ToTo, The Temptations, Chicago, a Screening of the Princess Bride, the Bangles, The Wallflowers, and countless other shows here and never been questioned on my camera. If thats your policy thats fine but I have been able to carry my camera inside this theatre on more than one occasion. Please hire friendlier staff and I promise to be back each event that peaks my interest. As for the Vintage style of the theater you really couldn't find a cozier spot to see great shows. I would like to add that the Users are always very polite and useful in showing your seat back to you in the dark spots while the show is going on Thank you Florida Theater!

Must experience this historic venue
Apr 2019 • Friends
While in downtown Jacksonville, if you can possibly obtain tickets to a performance at the Florida Theater, do it! The experience of being inside this well preserved venue will be very memorable. It’s designed to insure every seat has a great view of the stage. And what a stage it is too. Check out the pictures but seeing the ornate design in person is the only way to have full appreciation of the craftsmanship. Yes, it’s beginning to show it’s age and has blemishes but community support is keeping this historic monument going. This is a must see location in Jax.

Where are the best seats located at Florida Theatre Jacksonville? Orchestra? Loge? Balcony? Center, left, right? What seat locations to avoid? Any seats obstructed? Where is parking - and how far from the theater entrance? Thanks of inside info, as I've never been there.
Going to see a comedy show. I keep hearing that there isn't a bad seat in the house, but does anyone have any advice on where to sit? I was looking at the first row of the Loge (First 4 rows in the balcony) or Row L of the Orchestra (eleventh row). Any thoughts?

Hi there. Never been to this venue before. From what I gather, it may be best to grab a taxi or uber so we don't have to worry about the one way streets and parking. Wondering what time we should get there if the show starts at 8? How early would you recommend arriving?

This is an easy one to get in and out with out a lot of trouble. No need to be extremely early as they won't let you in that early before show time. 45 to 30 should be plenty of time. They have a bar area if you wanted to come a little early to grab something beforehand.

Is the neighborhood around the Florida theater a safe place to walk in at night. My Wife and I are seniors, we plan to walk from the Florida Theater to the nearby Hyatt after a concert-probably around 11p.m.. Is that a safe well-lit area to walk in at night?
