This Place is Awesome
Oct 2019
My friend "Jerrod Brown - Horror Artist" held a show here of Aurora model boxes re-created by Jerrod Brown; 25 large paintings put on display in Jacksonville. I purchases a painting from him. This building Holds a lot of original manuscripts that are such an intrinsic part of History.

Neat overlooked Treasure.
Oct 2019
They have different exhibits throughout the year...They have speakers and receptions...Sadly not enough support from the public to give this neat place the attendance it deserves. For the curious, and the enjoyment it's is a place of knowledge.

Nice but rather small.
Jul 2017 • Couples
We enjoyed going through the museum but it was rather small. The lower floor has been flooded so we were not able to see anything except the main level.

A Hidden Gem
Nov 2016 • Family
Most Jacksonville travelers never hear about this small museum, but they should! They always have something interesting and unexpected, even the building itself is rich in history. Settled in Historic Springfield, this is a great starting point before wandering around the Historic neighborhood or starting a game of disc golf in Klutho Park which is across the street.

Beautiful Building, Exhibits Dependent Upon Interest
Feb 2016 • Solo
The building itself is lovely and exhibit room if beautiful. It is a small place and exhibits change. When I was there, the exhibit was on Eva Peron. I found it interesting; others might not. I would say that if the subject of whatever the current exhibit is interests you, it's worth a trip if you're nearby. It is not in the most pedestrian-friendly area of Jacksonville (truthfully, the only pedestrian-friendly areas of Jacksonville I saw are the center of downtown and the Riverwalk). The museum is on the north side of W. 1st Street and W. 1st is 4 lanes of speeding drivers who aren't paying any attention to pedestrians. If you walk up Laura Street (as I did), there is no traffic signal to stop those maniacs, so you have to wait awhile for a break in traffic and then hope for the best. The better course is probably to walk up Main so you will have a signal at W. 1st, not that that's any guarantee.

Somewhat disappointing venue
Nov 2015 • Couples
This must have been a great venue in the past. Unfortunately, it now needs a lot of repair work. Nevertheless, they are currently having an interesting display of baseball documents, and it is worth a quick visit.

great space for events
May 2014 • Business
it can get really hot inside, but the stained glass windows create a lovely light when the sun is setting and the steps are so nice of an entrance (though there a lot of them and do create accessibility issues). The floors are nice and there is a stage that can work well for events.

Hidden Gem
Jan 2014 • Friends
The Karpeles Manuscript Library museum is a hidden gem in a quiet corner of Springfield in Jacksonville, Fla. My first visit was for a special exhibition of "oddities and peculiarities" featuring relics and treasures from such historical characters as Mr. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The regular holdings of manuscripts are equally as intriguing and I find myself drawn to the beautiful white building, curious to explore what treasures are hidden inside.

Mr. Karpeles had an interesting idea, but the delivery is lacking
Dec 2013 • Couples
The photo on the TripAdvisor site was from a show some time ago. That photo and the concept of a private museum struck us as in interesting idea and something we wanted to see.
Unfortunately, between the idea and the present exhibit, something got lost. The building was originally a church, bought by the Karples Foundation, but now in disrepair. The present exhibit of Russian documents just did not come across. Sad in a away. We had hoped for more, but we were disappointed.
