My husband and I just returned from a fishing trip on the Majesty. We called earlier in the week to make reservations. You are assigned a numbered location to fish on the boat so when you make a reservation this would be a good time to request a particular spot on the boat if you have a preference. We called again the day before to confirm that the trip was not cancelled due to weather, etc We spent the night at a motel near Mayport, FL (Mayport, is the small community outside of Jacksonville, FL where the boat is actually docked) because you need to arrive at 6:30 AM for a 7:00 departure. Take Note: The Mayport Naval Station is located there and one of the entrances is on the same road where the Majesty is docked. Traffic at 6:00-6:30 (during the week/not sure about weekends) was very heavy and we sat in bumper to bumper, snail moving traffic for about 10 minutes and arrived late to the dock. I was a little concerned we were going to miss the boat but when we arrived people were still checking in and boarding. After paying we boarded and the boat left very close to 7 AM. The boat was full but we didn't feel crowded. We had about a 1 1/2 hour trip our before our first stop to fish. The rod and reels are very new and worked great. The crew asked if you knew how to use them and gave instructions to those who needed it. We moved 6-8 times depending on how well the fish were biting (captain announces it over the loudspeaker/reel up your lines, drop lines etc). The crew was very helpful. James, one of the crew members in our area, was always around to help bait, untangle lines, take off and measure fish, take pictures, etc. When you catch a keeper the crew will place in on a stringer for your assigned fishing spot and give them to you when you disembark We stayed outside the whole trip but there is an indoor are with bench seat (air conditioned). There are small bathrooms on board at the rear of the boat (make sure you latch the eye hook for privacy). Everyone on board seemed to be having a good time and lots of fish (some keepers/some not) were being caught. A couple of people caught sharks (my husband being one). They put up a good fight and are cut loose after being brought up (not in) near the boat. We headed back about 1:30 and arrived back at the dock between 3:30-4:00. The crew cleans the boat on the way back in so you will be asked to move from one side to another. After getting off the boat you are given your fish and can have them cleaned by the crew. There is a TIP jar on the table where they clean the fish and PLEASE tip the crew as generously as possible. They work hard and deserve it. We had our fish cleaned and bagged for some of it to take home and took some of it next door the to restaurant where they fried it up for us. Your fish + french fries, coleslaw and hush puppies for $6.95/each + the cost of a drink + tip. The restaurant will also give you free ice for your cooler for the fish you want to take home uncooked. We left happy, tired and full after a very long and exciting day. Things to bring: Jacket, Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, cooler w/drinks, food/snacks and for fish after, small hand towels/papertowels for wiping off hands, camera, and a good attitude. Things to know: You may get queasy (take motion meds a couple hours before boarding/bring ginger ale) and if you do, ask the crew, they will give you advice.

I've been out on the Majesty with Capt. Scott several times (pretty much every July for the past 3 or so years), each time I've gone with 2 other family members and every time we have come back in with enough fish to feed two families several meals. The catch varies by time of year. Last time I went out with them the trip was cut short be a major storm system. I Planning on going out again December 2014.
Capt. Scott will take the boat to several spot's to try and maximize chances of catching some good fish (last trip out, I pulled in a big Cobia on the last spot, check out the pictures).
Advice:
1.) Bring a hat and sun screen, or prepare for the weather.
2.) Bring water, and snacks (if not a lunch) you can buy some items on the boat.
3.) Keep in mind there a few deck hands for (potentially) a lot of people. Be mind full that everyone wants to pull in "the big one" so if some one hooks a big one and it runs and Capt. Scott announces to keep you lines out with slack do it (My first trip I hooked a big one that drug me all over the boat, and tied up a bunch of lines; Capt. told everyone to slack off on their lines and after 20+ minutes of fighting and not seeing what I hooked someone yanked their line effectively snapping mine).
4.) Be mindful of others.
5.) Tip the crew well!

This was a great experience. The crew was great. Especially Mike and Justice. Most of us caught our limit of Sea Bass. I caught three very large Red Snapper. Others caught Trigger Fish, Flounder, and numerous other species. The crew was always ready to help with the fish we caught putting it on a stringer if it was a keeper or throwing it back. Even captain Scott was in on some of the fun! For the price of $85 I thought this was an excellent deal. We left around 7 and returned around 3:00. We tried several different fishing sites and caught fish at all of them. We went around 20-30 miles off shore. The crew cleans your fish for you and bags them when we returned. The boat was very clean and offerred a closed in area with tables where you could enjoy your lunch. I would highly recommend this experience. Thanks again to the crew and captain Scott:-) Michigan Karen

The last time I went, I invited a lot of family members. The captain seemed as if he was in a rush. As soon as we dropped our lines, he had us pull them up, stating there were fish "here" or "there". Also the water was choppy and he was steering the boat like you do a car. I've been on several trips with the Majesty, and I'm beginning to think you get what you pay for. My family is planning another outing and we've decided to rent a private boat.

this was the worse experience ever! We drove 1300 miles and prior to coming we spoke with the people here and were told they had ice cold a/c in the cabin and that there were snacks for our kids to eat as well as special ruds and reels for my kids. Well you have to pay and they ask for cash ( now i know why) well needless to say the a/c didnt work it was hot inside...no special rods or reels for kids and no snacks at all. It was so miserable for my kids. they tried to fish but the adult rods were to big big. I waited to talk to the so called captain of this run down piece of crap boat. After i tealked to him about all the stuff we were promised and wasnt there he just kept giving excuses ...he said the a/c and the kids rodz all just happened to break the week prior and that his crew ate thesnacks thathe cant keep them out of the snacks!!!!! are you freaking serious?????? He was going about on about how he buys cheaps rods and reels and they break. I wm guessing he is not making any money because his boat is nothung like the way thier website says or the way they tell you on the phone. Well its not my fault the owner of this boat is a liar and doesnt know anything about fishing or customer service. As a matter of fact he knew the water was to rough to go out fishing there was hardly any fish even caught at all. He told me the wsters were rough and not a good fishing day. then he said he does the best with what he has. I told him i wanted my money refunded for my kids since they were not able to even try and fish and he refused. He should have refunded everyones money when he knew it was to rough out at sea to fish. this person is a crook and a liar. Please go to another boat one that has a no catch fish money back guarantee. With ehe majesty this crook will take your money and take you out when you shouldnt go just to make money. I wish i would have just drove further down in Florida and went with a good boat. However i had no idea everything the website said and everything they told me was pure false until it was to late. that is why i am writing this so people dont waste money and they are aware this place lies and is a very shady bunch of people. As well as the rates they charge you are different from the website be ready for that. It is a whole crooked operation.

We regret your experience wasn't as you expected. As Captain and owner of Majesty Fishing, I have guided fishing charters offshore North Florida for over 30 years. I am one of the very few Captain/Owners in the industry who operate their vessel themselves. We strive hard to be the best in this business. While the average fishing boat in this industry is 30 years of age, we purchased the brand new custom built Majesty in 2009 to ensure we can provide the best possible fishing experience for years to come. Booked this trip several weeks in advance. First offshore experience ever for the group. Ship is used by frequent travelers and that all the attention was geared towards their happiness. By the time any of us could get help with our lines, the captain would call the lines up and move to a different location. Actual lines in water fishing was maybe 30 minutes. Don't waste your time or money on this trip. You will be disappointed. There were also kids on the ship who were completely ignored. I felt terrible for them.

The creeks the best thing of this trip. The first mate bo was great, we caught some fish but the majority of keeper fish caught were by the crew. One of the crew was even fishing ontop of us and got frustrated when his line got tangled with customers. The trip was scheduled to be from 7-4 but left at 7:10 and got back at 2:50. The crew was great but I will never use this charter again!

Very well kept and well run boat. The deckhands were spread out in sections and extremely helpful.

Long story short I booked Friday night for the following Sunday and received the last two spaces. Book Early!!

The morning trip out was quite rough. Enough so that a couple of the navy guys were reacquainting themselves with breakfast from earlier that morning. My advice on those days is to sit further back on the outdoor boat seats and get out of the cabin as the motion is reduced.

We left early and got back late. I think we changed fishing spots 4 times. The first being an instant success and slowly tapering off. Those there after were average with a couple spots having quite the current. You are fishing fairly close to the next guy so lines do get tangled but its not a huge deal, part of the fun. Some nice big red snapper were caught, sadly, since 2016 season has been totally closed they were all released. Plenty of snapper, sea bass, trigger fish, the occasional bar jack and barracuda as well as a group of cobia that got away.

I had an amazing day and brought home several snapper and a sea bass. The location next door, safe harbor sea food, fried and blackened everything for 7 dollars. I have to say fish that fresh was just amazing. They put singletons to shame.

All in all an amazing day on the water with some great friends and great conversation. I will be returning. Hats off to the captain and the staff.

After a 2.5 hour trip to the fishing grounds (brochure said 1-1.5 hours) the captain put us on the fish. Not big fish, but fun to catch fish. Typical squid bait and 200 lb. sinker type of fishing. The boat was OK. Not enough aisle room once every one was fishing. This got to be an issue when you needed to go get more bait. Good spacing between anglers on the rails. Clean boat. Captain should emphasize that people should not be allowed to sleep (stretched out) on the bench seats as others might want to sit in the indoor cabin as well. Brochure said "about 6 hours fishing"...not this day.... we packed it in at around 1:15 pm and headed back to dock... arrived at dock at 3:15 pm..around 4 hours fishing total. The Mates were helpful and on top of things. I tipped one mate ($20.00) and mentioned to him that this tip was to be shared with the others, don't know if that happened... Usually they do a "pass the hat" and the tips are shared.... All in all, was a pleasant (albeit short) fishing trip. BTW,, those "awesome" directions (advised NOT to use GPS) on the website SHOULD include mileage between turns... It would be a great help when it's 5:30 AM and totally dark... had a bit of a problem navigating and trying to see the signs.... just sayin'
