My daughter and I went on the "Jacksonville Top to Bottom" downtown tour on August 5, 2021, and had a superb time. Gary, the tour leader, led us everywhere from the top floor of a newly refurbished building to the underground tunnel system that connected three big Jacksonville banks vaults in the early 1900s. He was relaxed, friendly, and very knowledgable, always willing to answer questions and share insights. The tour took close to two hours at a moderate walking pace with lots of stops to rest a minute and admire the sights. We finished with a new appreciation for the city.

I played hooky from work today, and enjoyed the Top to Bottom walking tour with my dad, followed by a lovely lunch at a downtown cafe. Took the Skyway from the Kings Ave station (can't beat the free parking and free transit!). I'm a Jax native and always heard there were tunnels running under the city, and now I got to see them! I'm so glad we did this tour--easy walk, interesting info, beautiful sights. Our guide was Gary--extremely knowledgeable, while also relaxed, friendly , personable. And dressed as Andrew Jackson! I highly recommend this tour whether you're visiting or a resident!

Gary was truly remarkable! I have attended the Top to Bottom walking tour with out of town visitors a couple times before. Always enjoyed it. I reached out to Gary to organize a kids tour. He truly captivated the kids… they were engaged and were asking questions. He even had them marching and singing Jacksonville history walking down the street. Looking at pictures, the bank vault may appear to be the “star” of the tour, in reality, it was Gary! He is the perfect combination of information and entertainment to make for an awesome tour! And not only did the kids learn something, I did too!

I went on the River City Haunts "Legends & Liars" pub walk about a week ago, and I had an absolute blast! As a fan of history and spooky stories, I've been on my fair share of ghost tours. This one felt brand new to me, even as a resident of Jacksonville, because of its interactive element. (During the walk, 13 stories were told. Participants guessed which one involved a lie to win a prize at the end.) The tour was well-paced, and I liked that we got to stop for refreshments and bathroom breaks along the way. Whether you're visiting Jacksonville or have lived here for ages, I highly recommend signing up for this and learning something new about the Bold New City of the South!
