Aside from being difficult (for me) to locate, the museum was very enjoyable. Lots to see and do. Only one thing kept me from giving it 5 stars: the first audible exhibit on the second floor was much too loud. It overshadowed every other exhibit...More

The superhero exhibit is the best part! ..great place for toddlers. They didn't seem to have live animals other than turtles. It would be nice if they had a snack bar

My kids (4 and 6) had an amazing time. There was a lot to hold their interest, and mine. The new superhero exhibit was a lot of fun, and I saw adults playing just as much as the kids. My son loved the animals on...More

They have a small museum store which has snacks. But other than that eat before you come. So much to see it is downtown, ample parking... I will take all of the kids and grandkids more than once.

We've been members for 6 years or so. Their summer camps are great and educational. There rotating exhibits can't be missed.

This museum is designed for kids and those who live in or are new to Jacksonville and want to learn about its history as there are a lot of hands-on activities for the kids and the history of Jacksonville from its discovery until today.

We visited this museum while staying nearby and it was a perfect! Not big but only $12 for students or seniors. Plenty of hands on for every age. A little bit of history and an awesome Owl. I recommend!

Travelling to Tampa and Orlando (5 Replies)
Hi everyone, I will be going to Tampa for two days with my family (Mother, Husband, children (13,7 and 8 mths). We will be there in August, which we know is quite busy. Need advice. Planning to spend a day at Busch Gardens, the second day at the Museum of Science and History with the afternoon at Adventure Island. Is that a good plan? Should we just spend 2 days at Busch Gardens, considering we have a young child? Also, is Aquatica better than Adventure Island? Thanks in advance.

First, where will you be based (mostly ie hotel) Orlando or Tampa? How many days total? BG and AI are both good, but Aquatica and the 2 Disney waterparks are better than AI if you wil be in the orlando area. but if you want AI, then I would only stay one night in that area and do AI and the museum on the same day rather than 2 nights just to do those things.

Museum of Nature and Science vs. Fort Worth Mus of Science & (6 Replies)
I live in Tennessee and need some local Dallas advice please. I am thinking of buying a family membership to a Science Museum for my niece and her family. They live in Frisco. I am thinking of either the Dallas Mus. of Nature and Science or the Forth Worth Museum of Science and History. The former is about 50 min and the latter is 65 min from Frisco, according to mapquest. She and her husband have 5 children: boys ages 13, 10 and 2 and the girls are ages 6 and 8. If I pay enough, the...More

Since renovations, neither one is way better than the other- in fact, they are quite similar in the level of displays and exhibits. However, there are two reasons I would recommend Dallas over Fort Worth for a family that lives in Frisco. They can easily catch the DART light rail to Fair Park so it is easier/cheaper for travel. Also, there are so many other things that happen in Fair Park, especially the State Fair- it would be good, at least for this first museum membership/gift, to give...More

Just a couple things- for Millenium Park- you mention a ferris wheel- the ferris wheel is at Navy Pier, not at the park. Also on your food choices- these are all good, but just beware that they don't take reservations so you could also be waiting quite awhile to eat, depending on what time you go. I would say go to the Signature Room just for a drink, not dinner. On steakhouses- have you checked if you can get into Hugo's? Hugo's Fish Bar is attached to Gibson's and you can order off...More
