This entire city is unfriendly as it offers no access and no parking to the many miles of attractive beach on its east side. It is obvious that visitors and guests are not welcome. They should just hang a sign that says "Stay Away". JACKSONVILLE BEACH (to the immediate south) is just the opposite. Take your family and your money to JaxBeach and have a wonderful time there.

Atlantic Beach is a lovely residential town with narrow quiet streets and upscale homes. But as this is a tourist website, I cannot give Atlantic Beach a high rating as they simply don't encourage or provide for tourism.

The beach is nice but access is limited because there is nowhere to park. There are a few access points but each only has a couple of parking spots and parking on the street is not allowed.

Atlantic Beach does not allow tourist rentals, short term rentals (airbnb) or commercial development outside of a prescribed area bordering Neptune Beach.

All this makes it a less than great place to visit if you don't live there.

This is the best beach I've been to. The location is great - there's many hotels within walking or short driving distance. Parking is free and very close to the many beach entrances. Lifeguards are always there and attentive but are spread apart so they don't bother you unless you're in danger. The sand is flat and you can either set up camp down where it's damp and packed or warm and soft. The water was perfect the first week in August, like bath water temperature, and the waves were huge during tides and small during other times of the day so you could pick the water you swam in. There are lots of interesting rocks and shells along the shore and even a few crabs to enjoy (they're too scared of you to bite) laughing at. There's plenty of places to eat along the beach and some great shops.

Atlantic beach is a family orented area.Or an exciting night out. In the day time atlantic beach is open and includes close by free parking. There is a town center including small shopes and coffee cafes. An ice cream prleor or a candy stop at the localy known shelby's. lees ice cream also offeres many exiting treats and it right across from Al's a pizza place.Thre is a sticky fingers and a smoothie king. A starbucks and a couple of clothing shops for every age.For people looking for a more healthy alternative there is a turtle island market with a wide variety of snacks and a little deli like area in the rear.During the night atlantic beach has just as much exitment. There is the caribbean Key restruant wich has a bar and live music on some nights.I think it is on fridays. And rag time also offers a bar with traditional diner food. There are some smaller bars such as land shark and petes bar off of atlantic(near the publix). The beach is flat with soft sand. Not the best place for shark tooth collecters but a great place for kayakers and surfers. I hope you found this review helpful.

I was asked by my Wife to take a nice, pleasant Sunday drive, and have a romantic, relaxing walk on the Beach without a care in the "immediate" World. Not going to happen. There is not a prejudice bone in my body nor do we single out anyone group or nationality. However, when roaming groups of youths accost decent people minding their own business, or go out of their way to bring attention to themselves or tastelessly display their buttocks, their skivvies, their trouser/ shorts below their hips for all to see, it's clear that Atlantic Beach is on its way to being a semi-nude beach. There is a time and place for everything, but tourists, families with teens and pre-teens and small children should not have to be exposed to the new counter-culture. It is fine to be different but an infringement upon the rights of others makes Atlantic Beach a place to Avoid. On St. Patrick's Day there was a teen shooting. The heavy police presence is a major distraction- this is not beach blanket bingo. Keep driving, to a nicer beach community.

Atlantic Beach is a Nice beach, but I always find it difficult to find parking. It has nicer beaches than Jax Beach, but Jax Beach is just so convenient to park and to walk and get food. My favorite, though, is to go down to St Augustine. Anastasia Beach is the best of the best. To me, it's worth the 30-45 minute drive, and the seafood in the surrounding restaurants is awesome. If you have a car, go to these other beaches insread.

After driving past too many fancy homes which did not allow beach access on the A1A. I was getting kind of frustrated with the Florida coast. But then found the public area at the Jacksonville beach. It was lovely. I walked into and along the water for quite a while as it soothed by soul. It was wonderful being in the water in early March!

Clean and nice to take the dog on leash and walk the beach. Many beaches don't allow dogs at all or limit the hours that they are permitted in which this one does not which is why it's our beach!

Atlantic Beach has alot to offer: during low tide you have plenty of beach front, beautiful views, walking distance to restaurants, bars. However, this beach lacks the white sand found in the Florida Panhandle and instead of soft sand, is hard packed. Also, the water is darker than the Gulf of Mexico. For this area, it is fine, but i would choose any beach in the Panhandle (Pensacola, Destin, Panama City, etc) over Atlantic Beach.
