With over a million years of history, this landmark has some interesting features. A long time ago, the deterioration of this site was inevitable. August 20, 1969 President Richard Nixon signs the bill that establishes Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument for future generations to study...More

I actually went here in 2016. It is not a huge place but one worth visiting. They showed us how to open our rocks and we got some fossils out of some. I want to go back.

I spent a few hours here hunting for fossils- left with 2 favorites and found plenty more! Plus, it's an affordable adventure at $10/hr and you get to take anything you find home! I'll definitely be bringing some friends out for this next summer.
