I previously reviewed the Healthy Trails Walkabout but am pleased to report that we continued the trails and finally finished the walkabout. I submitted the paperwork and our patches will be coming soon. Since we started the walkabout last year, I moved from New York to North Carolina so it took us a year of return trips to NY to finish the five trails. this was definitely worth it and I recommend the walkabout to anyone. We discovered the Eveready Diner for lunch and even with the pandemic conditions last week, we were about to order take out and eat on picnic tables under some trees.

The Hyde Park Trail connecting the FDR national historic site to the Vanderbuilt park & mansion was one of the highlights of our visit to Hyde Park. It provides a beautiful walk through peaceful woodlands and let's you see the land where FDR spent his childhood. Well worth the time to walk the entire length (it takes about 3 hours to loop between the two sites.)

We hiked the Vanderbilt Loop, which was very nice, with shade and a breeze off the river. The grounds are very well maintained. We took advantage of the stations with cell phone access for historical information, which was very easy to use and informative. For bird lovers, we saw many along the river.

great history covering both the Vanderbilts and the Roosevelts. This four mile trail connects with a much longer system leading through all of Hyde Park and along the Hudson River. Easy walking but carry some water -- it will take about three hours at a slow pace.

Your cell phone is your guide, providing narrations about Hyde Park's historic landscapes from six of Hyde Park's Trails. Call directly from the trail to hear more about Hyde Park's rich legacy.

Just watch for cell phone tour markers, call 845-475-3819, and enter the stop number. Worked very well today.

It seemed a good idea. The day was pleasant and the wall didn't seem too long and of course you are well away from the traffic and pollution. From FDR' s house to Eleanor's house return was about two hours. We added a tour of the house which rounded off a pleasant afternoon. Oh there are a number of seats along the trail should you need a rest.

This trail connects all the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt key buildings together. You can do some or the whole trail.

Your map shows this in Franklin Square, NY on New Hyde Park Road which is incorrect. You have an address in Hyde Park, and I don’t know where that is so I was unable to re-pin the location on your map. Perhaps someone else will pin the location correctly in Hyde Park.

Love this series of trails and so does my dog. Walk these trails every season but the dead of winter.

We were so excited to read about the Hyde Park Healthy Trails Walkabout and included it in our plans for our visit to Hyde Park today. The Hyde Park Trail is a series of trails throughout Hyde Park and the Healthy Trails Walkabout is a program where you can earn a patch after walking at least five of the trails (there are 11 on the list). Since today was hot and muggy and our main plan was to visit the two Roosevelt homes, we just completed two of the trails but we're already planning our return visit to Hyde Park to complete the last three trail walks and get our patches!
