Awesome tour by horseback really brings home the "feel" of the battlefield with Terry as the guide!
Jul 2021
Our Fun Foursome of Family absolutely LOVED the Gettysburg horseback tour!! Enjoyed hearing the history that Terry told us at the different spots on the battlefield. Our "wranglers" were very friendly and informative. We learned a lot about this AWESOME RESCUE organization and the dedication they have for their horses. Our "riding" experiences varied but it wasn't an issue with the well trained horses for the trail ride. Highly recommend that this tour be included in your visit of Gettysburg Battlefield!

Terrific way to spend two hours touring Gettysburg battle field, having a tour guide tell stories
Jun 2021 • Friends
The stories about the battles, the soldiers, generals and civilians were great. Left us wanting more. The groups are small…6 in our group - which made it easy for questions and answers. We had a tour guide (super duper), a rider up front and a walker bringing up the rear. They were helpful (especially getting off the horse), knowledgeable and comfortable being around. Their horses are rescued horses, so you do a great deed by supporting them as there is a ton of work involved to get the horses to the point of being excellent for what they do…
I highly recommend not only this type of tour, but using Nation Riding Stables!

Can't Miss Tour
Jun 2021
We went on a 8am Saturday tour with a group of 3, including our 8 year old nephew who has never been on a horse. It was a hot day so we were glad to have booked the earlier tour. There were only 4 riders and at least as many staff helping us, so it seemed like a VIP experience compared to some of the larger group tours we've seen elsewhere. Everyone was terrific, including the horses! Terry was very knowledgable about the battlefields and made sure all of our questions were answered. The tour was very well organized and you could tell that the staff loved the animals. It was great to learn about the quirks and history of our horses, many of whom were rescued from near-death circumstances. It was a great experience and we were happy to support such a meaningful organization. Highly recommend!

Amazing, knowledgeable, inviting, and engaging staff. Terry our historical ranger vividly painted the battlefield with her interesting descriptions of Gettysburg. You felt immersed in history riding through the battlefield. I loved how you were introduced to your horse and learned their background as well. The horses are even more interesting than the staff. On our trail ride we had Duke a handsome rodeo horse, Sebastian a blonde Tennessee Walker who was a character, and two gentle giant Belgians Ted and Gus. These horses are well behaved and it’s truly a special moment to take these survivors out for a ride. Can’t wait to return to meet the whole herd. Thank You for a wonderful day.

Horse back tour
May 2021
We took a tour this am and really enjoyed it. The horses are beautiful, well taken care of, gentle. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The employees LOVE the horses and take very good care of them. The horses are all rescue horses. The ride was beautiful and peaceful. I highly recommend, the money goes towards a great cause.

Tour on horseback
May 2021 • Couples
We had a great experience on our guided horseback tour of the battlefields! The guides and wranglers were very knowledgeable and friendly. I was nervous prior to the tour since I hadn’t been on a horse in over 35 years, I had no problems and our horses Lance and Hank were fantastic!! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the battlefields!

Awesome to experience the battlefield from horseback. The guide Teri was very informative. Beautiful horses. Money from rides goes to rescue more horses and to continue rehabilitation of current horses.

Fantastic Experience!
Jul 2020
We had a wonderful ride, the tour guide and and wranglers were very friendly. They had horses for inexperienced riders and people who have been riding their entire life. Also they gave us free pics of our ride! My family and I had a terrific time!

Second time riding!
Sep 2020 • Friends
I could go on and on about this wonderful stables! Knowing that the horses are saved from abuse and slaughter is so refreshing. At the end of the season, I learned that the horses stay at the stables and get pampered all winter! I have ridden at many places over the world and will 100% always come back here any time I’m in the area! Be sure to book early as they only take out small groups (which I LOVE) and they do book quickly. These horses are so fun and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know their personalities each of the times I’ve ridden here. Also, I LOVE the fact that this stables doesn’t use the headphones! I am one that asks a ton of questions. So, being able to interact with the Guide at the stops really gives me a chance to ask more questions each time I come. Please give this stable a try—you won’t be sorry!

Extremely disappointed
Sep 2020 • Couples
After about an hour of lecturing on how wonderful the horses are we took a very short ride. Then stop and a lecture of 15 min or so. Then very short ride again. Then long lecture. Then back to stable. At MOST we rode 2 miles in 2 hours.
Very disappointed.

We are very sorry you were disappointed with your historic ride on the battlefield. We strive to create an enjoyable experience for all riders by giving a short riding demonstration and introducing each horse to the rider assigned, so the rider will feel more comfortable. The tour itself is limited to a walk (by requirements of the National Park Service and insurance standards). As explained on our website when making a reservation, we don't use headphones but instead we make stops and the Licensed Battlefield Guide talks one on one with the riders, who are able to ask questions and partake in the tour. If you were unhappy about your tour, I wish you would have spoken with us after the ride. I would like to offer you another complimentary ride but I have no way of knowing who to contact since you withheld your name. If you would like to try the ride again, please feel free to contact us. We would be glad to chat with you.
