I have taken this audio tour twice. I may even do it again. It adds a sense of drama to the bare facts of the battle. I broke it up into two days and it was still easy to pick up where I left off.

This is a must-do trip. Probably several trips to fully appreciate the battlefield and the events that unfolded there which ultimately forged this “experiment” into the great, long enduring, Nation it is today. I started the trip from Washington, DC, at Ford’s Theater and the Petersen House. Then, drove to Gettysburg. Stop first at the Visitor’s Center—not only is it impressive in its own right, but the friendly folks at the information desks are subject matter experts. I took a self-directed Auto Tour—get the map from the Visitor’s Center. The signs around town are clear to keep you on the route. I was similarly greatly surprised and impressed with Gettysburg, the town. Take some time after the auto tour to enjoy what this great town has to offer. Finish the trip with a visit to the Lincoln Memorial in DC. Bottom Line: All men and women are created equal, but this trip is in a class of its own.

Ray was our guide...humorous, kept it moving and always asked for permission on when to stop, to drive, to crack wise...really great. This tour was highly recommended by a tour guide in Philly, he said at times you felt like you were apart of the battle...this was true. Fantastic!
