I have been very hesitant to book any type of tours even while I am on the road traveling full-time. Most of my activities are all outside, hikes or similar. And I have been doing my own cooking at my rentals or just picking up carry-out.

But Savor Gettysburg had updated their policies. Everyone wore masks and they sat us at small tables to keep all individual groups separate. Very appreciated. I wouldn’t have booked if it was big group.

Now to the actual tour and food. We went to Food 101 for a slice of fennel sausage and broccolini pizza, then to Garryowen Pub for a small shepherds pie. Thai Elephant Walk for some excellent Penang Curry and Pad Thai (Thai food is some of my favorite) was nex, then to Mamma Ventura for some rigatoni with “blush sauce”, a combination of marinara with Alfredo. By this time, already pretty full so couldn’t finish. The restaurant was concerned I didn’t like it but I told them it was delicious just getting full after 4 stops. We went to the George’s at Swope Manor, for some caprese salad and wonderful lemon chicken. We met the chef and learned about his farm to table work. Excellent but so full couldn’t finish this either. Still two places to go!

Then we went to Reid’s Winery and Cider House for 3 samples of wine and 2 ciders along with some small pieces of cheese, grapes, chocolate they had to pair with each selection. All very good.

Finally, we went next door to Mr. G’s for a cup of ice cream. I tried the chocolate cheesecake. Always room for ice cream! But so full I needed that mile walk back to my AirBNB. All the restaurants and food were wonderful and I appreciate the opportunity to try each of them. Our guide, Gayle, kept us informed not just about the restaurants but about history of the buildings we passed and lots of fun details about Gettysburg.

I appreciate the work Savor Gettysburg did and they changes they have made to kept us safe during the pandemic.

Best tour in Gettysburg for the money! Maryanne was fun and informative, and each stop was excellent. We went during July 2020 and everyone respectfully wore masks except when eating. Maryanne spent time with each of the group’s members and kept the three hour tour fun and interesting. My favorite was chef Carl at George’s in Swope’s Inn but every place was ready for our group with delicious food. We also visited Food 101, Garryowen Pub, Mama Ventura’s, Reid’s Winery, and Mr. G’s Ice Cream. Exceeded my expectations!

We have done food tours all over the world, and the Savor Gettysburg Food Tour was in our top 5. The tour included a variety of cuisines including pub fare, Italian, Thai, Artisan, fine dining and ice cream. We also had a stop at local winery to sample wines and ciders. Come hungry!

Our tour guide Gayle was informative, and provided insight into many of the buildings that we passed by, or housed the restaurants on our tour. We've been to Gettysburg many times, and this was a different perspective on the people and the town from the time of the battle.

We would highly recommend Savor Gettysburg Food Tours and will try one of their other tours on a future visit.

Excellent food tour! This was the fifth food tour we have taken and this one rates right at the top. Out hostess Gayle did an outstanding job. She was knowledgeable of the area and history. She was entertaining as she took us through the tour telling us local stories and mixed it all in with some humor at times. The various stops offered us a nice variety of foods and the restaurant specialties, as well as a libation stop!

And Gayle ,if you get to read this, thanks for not losing patience with my sister, who did the tour with us, as I think she sat on a cactus that morning!

I highly recommend this food, but give yourself plenty of time to get there, as the area is quite congested as you near town.

Our tour guide was Gayle and she was amazing. She exceeded every expectation we had about what a food tour is. She was very informative and told us tons of history about the town in a very engaging way. She was lively and kind yet funny and informative. She knew sooo much about the rich history of Gettysburg, she told us things that we had no clue about even tho we went to museums and did other tours. All the food was amazing and the history of the places we ate were just as good. Any questions we had after the tour either about food or just history she stayed and answered those for us. Gayle made this trip very memorable, she deserves a ton of recognization.

Our tour guide was, Gayle Underwood, and she was fantastic! She’s very passionate, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and approachable. She doesn’t just walk the group from restaurant to restaurant. She makes stops along the way to tell you about stories regarding the buildings you’re walking by from one stop to the next, and if you have any questions she’s ready to answer them. I can’t say enough good things about her as a tour guide. A++

The tour I was on consisted of six different stops. American, Irish pub, Mexican, Asian, winery and an ice cream shop. The variety was great and the food was delicious!

So far this has been the highlight of my trip. The food was great, but having Gayle as our tour guide out it over the top. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend taking the tour.

Lori was an awesome tour guide and we learned a lot about the history of Gettysburg as well as the stories of all the restaurant owners we stopped at. The food was amazing, and even my 6 year old enjoyed the trip. Would definitely recommend doing at the start of your stay, so you know where to eat during your stay!

The Historic Downtown Food Tour was amazing today! Gayle expertly led us to all the stops, keeping us safe from cars and telling incredible stories the entire tour. Each restaurant was ready and waiting for us. The pace ensured a good balance between walking and eating so that we weren’t uncomfortable at any point in the journey. This was such a wonderful and memorable tour - My husband and I highly recommend it!

My wife and I live 10 miles from Gettysburg. We received a gift certificate for the Historic Downtown Food Tour. We did not know what to expect but to our surprise it was a wonderful experience. We sampled food in 4 restaurant, 1 tasting room, and an ice parlor and learned a lot of history along the way. Our guide Gayle was a joy - knowledgeable, fun, and energetic. Even though we live in the area we had only been in 1 of the restaurants before(Garryoven). We will definitely return to Food 101, & Tacos Monarca Mexican Grill. Also to Reid's Winery to drink more of their wine and ciders.
