Save your money or donate it to a civil war preservation group. It is hot, overpriced and lacks authenticity. They treat the reenactors like garbage. without them, there is no reenactment!

This was a real disappointment. It was very hard to see unless you paid extra to sit in the bleachers and the action was VERY slow. There were times when absolutely nothing happened for 15 to 20 minutes. We were told that a lot of the people used most of their ammunition the day before. We were there the 4th... More

The reenactment was really good. Unfortunately, it was so hot that the time in the sun became overwhelming. I recommend a good sun hat and lots of sunscreen. People who drove in were able to bring their own chairs for seating--tickets are less expensive that way. We sat in the bleachers. We met some wonderful people as we waited for... More

Cannot get close enough to see much on the field. Expensive to get in and terrible parking. We did a local reinactment and it was great.

As a 30 plus years as a Civil War reenactor, I can honestly say that this past year was the worst reenactment I have attended. I will NOT be returning to Gettysburg again. That is pretty sad since I have been coming here every year since 1968. First as a young boy, then as a young man, then as a... More

Was in Virginia when they have this reenactment and was able to attend the first day. They have several tent shows, lots of informative stations and exhibits and there was a mortar demonstration at noon time. One of the battle reenactment on the first day in the afternoon was also good. Recommend also to tour the battlefield area around as... More

My hat's off to the organizers and re-enactors who present this yearly event. The action is interesting and informative. The reenactment is narrated so you have a good feel for how the part of the battle you are watching relates to the total battle. Plan on a full day. There is some down time but this provides an opportunity to... More

A great event not just for history buffs. I loved listening to the various period musical acts and walking through the living history encampments. There is so much to see here. The re-enactment's are well done and complete with horses, carriages and artillery fire and they even do a live mortar demonstration. My only complaint, which is a fairly large... More

My son is passionate about re-enactments and really enjoys the history, uniforms and all. We got here on July 3, for "Pickett's Charge" and the Calvary. I was very impressed of the size of this event and all of the people it takes to make it work. Parking was great, the volunteers helped us park with ease. It was no... More

This annual reconstruction and reenactment of the three major battles of Gettsyburg, back in 1863, was a great experience. Yes, it was hot, but most of the US is hot during early July. But if you are a Southerner like me, you take it in stride. The actual event takes place about 3 miles from the fields of Gettysburg, as... More
