History comes to life at Confederate Trails. We now offer featured rides with living historians in period dress who will tell you what life was like during the time of the Civil War. For those who love in-depth history, the Licensed Battlefield Guide is the only way to go. The battlefield story unfolds as you ride right where the soldiers were - experiencing the power of this important time in our nation's history from the center of the battlefield itself. Horse lovers and historians alike will enjoy this ride. Our horses have all been awarded healthy horse certification by a premier Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. The horses are very friendly and mild mannered. We look forward to riding with you.

We went on Dec. 30 to see Gettysburg lit up for the holidays. It was very cold out, but the carriage was comfortable once they closed the back flap and we were bundled up underneath a blanket. Our guide was amazing. He was a local seminary student who knew Gettysburg history inside and out, and played various marching tunes on... More

We highly recommend this ride! The battlefield guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable and the staff was friendly and patient and the horses were adorably sweet. I am an experienced rider, however, if you've never been on a horse, its is not a problem. They teach you the basics on reining, stopping and going. And of course the horses just... More

Great way to see much of the battlefield in a two-hour period vs. zipping by in a car or walking. Horses were well trained -- easy to ride for someone like me, who has zero horse riding experience. Our Licensed Battlefield Guide was VERY knowledgable and kept the material interesting. I was the only history buff in our group of... More

We were part of a group of four adults and scheduled the two hour trail ride on a weekend. The staff was all very friendly and safety oriented. Horses all seemed to be in healthy condition, and responsive to instruction. It was a fun and informative tour throughout the battlegrounds. Recommend!

Our family had a great time seeing the battlefields on horseback. The tour guide was excellent and funny while sharing historical information. The other staff were friendly and helpful. We are novice horseback riders and felt completely safe and taken care of. It was a perfect way to entertain our history buff and animal lover at the same time.

Horses were well fed and safe; however the horse I was put on, Sassy, was not sound. She appeared to be the only unsound horse in the bunch though. The young kids that were guides just kept saying to give her a kick. Trails through the battlefield were beautiful.

My husband and I and a friend did the horseback tour with our grandchildren, ages 13 and 11. It was a beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The narration along the way was excellent. The trip was well organized and the horses well behaved. You really do get a better perspective of the terrain from horseback than from car.... More
