We're on vacation in Virginia with our family for the month of August and decided to take a day trip up to Gettysburg to learn more about the civil war and the importance of Lincoln's famous speech. It was interesting seeing the field locations, and the site of the address (7 score and 13 years later ....sorry couldn't resist), as... More

This was our first time to Gettysburg national Military Park. It was amazingly hot that day, but we enjoyed every moment.

We enjoyed a nice weekend getaway visiting the battlefields! I would recommend viewing the the movie, painting & museum first! The painting was fabulous & the short movie was very informative. My husband is in the Army & his ticket was totally free! Staff was courteous & facilities were clean. The battlefields are immaculately preserved. It's almost as if you... More

This is a definite must for the study of American history especially the civil war. We took a 90 minute walking tour of the battlefield that discussed the 3 days of fighting. It was lead by a park service ranger and it was excellent. I am so glad we stumbled upon it. Highly informative and the best part was there... More

You must visit this place to better understand the magnitude and effort of the civil war. Take a private guided tour. It is only 65 USD and you and your family will enjoy it. Before - plan to visit and see the movie- it will help putting it into context. The museum is not a must have. So you will... More

Visited here with my family for the first time (although my boys and husband have been here before with the Boy Scouts). What a great place to visit and learn and see such an important part of history. Some of us biked through the park to experience almost every monument and some of us did the auto tour with the... The museum and grounds offer an excellent way to spend an afternoon. Being from the west coast I've been lucky enough to visit twice and would go again if the opportunity arose. Don't miss the cyclorama!! It is breathtaking and I believe the best part of the museum. They also have a great gift shop!

Prepare to spend almost all day here. the self guided road tour is some 24 miles according to the map and if you stop, get out, walk around and just reflect, you will need the entire day. Its hard to imagine that this battle took the lives of 51,000 Americans (union and confederate). the park has a youtube chanel that... More

This place had a very mystical feel about it. It was quite something to take in and see. The fields were so neat to see and you could almost feels those that lost their lives on that land. It was so well maintained and breathtaking.
