The view from the Little Round Top is just awe inspiring. The though of thousands of men fighting to the death within view and on this spot just mind blowing. The monuments tell the story of the defenders and will make you want to see more.

Watch the 1993 Gettysburg movie. This is where the Day 2 action with Col. Chamberlin occurred. Get out of your car here...walk up among the stones. Hike a bit into the woods and see where the 20th Maine right flank ("RF" marker) and left flank ("LF" marker) were. You can SEE what happened...!!!

Lots of parking spots and then a short climb to the top of Little Round Top. Many markers and monuments dot the ridge. You can see Devils Den below you. Really puts into perspective the terror of that day when men were trying to climb that hill with no cover at all. Definitely worth a stop!

The view here is spectacular and really helps a person understand the physical layout of this battlefield. The walk to the 20th Maine markers is paved and easy. Watch the scene from Gettysburg where Chamberlain orders a bayonet charge prior to going here and it will really enhance the experience, especially for kids. LRT is also a great place to take a refreshment break while enjoying the views.

After learning about and reading about this location in school, it was honestly really cool to see in in person. It was neat to put it into perspective of how the battle was fought looking down from the top of these rocks! It also was a great view of the battlefield and the surrounding areas.

I have visited Little Round Top multiple times, twice this past weekend during my trip to Gettysburg. The views are amazing. I chatted with a Park Volunteer who was full of information. One of the things he pointed out were the Witness Trees: trees that were here during the Battle and are still alive today. The Auto Tour is full of information about this stop.

This was one of my favorite stops at Gettysburg National Battlefield - which offered great views of the battlefield park and Devil's Den. The castle was interesting which you can go to the top. When doing the auto tour, this is a must stop.

It was distinct honour to stand on this hallowed ground. The story that took place here is not owned by any nation or race or creed; north or south; American or otherwise. It is a testament to the human spirit and the concept of bravery and duty. Such concepts are perhaps somewhat out of favour these days in this, the first half of the 21st century. Less so at least than in times past. A thought provoking venue. A seminal totem to a troubled time in American history.

To get a real grasp on the scope of the battle you need to be out on the field of battle. From little round top you get a good feel for how it was for the soldiers here. Fairly easy to get too and beautiful view of the battlefield and devils den from the top.

This mountain is a pivotal spot in the three day battle of Gettysburg. The view is amazing and a place you must get to in your visit. The history surrounds as you recall what happened on that mountain July 2, 1863.

We were visiting Little Round Top a few years ago in October, about 30 minutes before the park was set to close for the night. There were no other cars or people around. Out of nowhere, this man dressed in a full war uniform and toting a rifle walked in front of us and straight down in to the battle field. He didn’t acknowledge us and it was so dark at this point, we were using our phone flashlights. He stayed in our view for at least 2-3 minutes and vanished in to the dark. He had no light with him, so I have no clue how he could see to walk down in to the battlefield. While I would love to believe That we saw a ghost, I have to ask if anyone else has had a similar experience? Thanks!

Well I’ll tell you exactly what I think. I’m a member of the Gettysburg Paranormal Association, and what you saw was what we call a residual haunting. Since what you saw did not acknowledge you. The energy of the unfortunate soul is domed to do perform the same tasks over and over again. Like a record stuck in the same groove.

Is this a spot that you park and have a short walk to or is it a hike to get there? Will be traveling with two 3 year olds and one 1 year old. I like to be prepared! Thanks!

Just park and follow one of two paths. It’s a short walk to site. You’ll have a wonderful view of Devil’s Den , and the Slaughter Pen and part of the battle field.
