Robert did an awesome job pointing out wildlife and historic sites. Also, he was incredibly knowledgeable about the local history.

We walked quickly the 2 and a half blocks to the boat sight, hoping to make the two hours cruise. Made it in plenty of time. It was if they were waiting for us. We were the last borders. Asked where to pay. Were told after the tour. Had no idea of the cost. $15 as a senior. What a... More

We loved this tour. The owner of the boat is great with children. He knows a LOT about the river. Going to do this again sometime.

We took a two-hour cruise with Maiden Voyage River Tours yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were only 9 people in our group, so we had plenty of room to spread out aboard the spacious pontoon boat. Captain Robert has lived in northeast Iowa for many years and is well-acquainted with the Upper Mississippi and its history. His self-deprecating... More

Captain Robert was a wonderful host, very knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly. We went on a weekday afternoon 2 hour cruise. The price was right and since I had picked up a business card earlier in the day I got an additional discount. Adult Beverages and snacks were OK to bring on board. We viewed Pikes Peak from the river, some... More

Toured the Mississippi and Lock and Dam. Had a catfish and all the trimmings as part of the trip. Robert is a very knowledgeable tour host and makes the ride a great trip. A must do if you are in McGregor.

Captain Robert C. Vavra welcomed us aboard and spoke to us as we were invited to have our box lunch while we were underway toward the backwaters and sloughs. Captain Robert had been one of those last generation clammers who dove for the mussels to be used to make seed pearls for the Japanese cultured pearl industry. He described how... More

I felt like I was going back in time listening to the stories of the river. We watched a fisherman bring in his catch. The host is friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. He makes it a great trip. We saw two bald eagles, learned much history, and took lots of pictures. I will go again when back in town. It seems... More

Had a wonderful two hours on the river with captain Bob and river the dog. Captain Bob is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the Mississippi River. Saw lots of eagles. I would recommend this for adults and children.
