The small 'Signers' garden is at the southeast corner of Chestnut Street and 5th Street, part of Independence National Historical Park. The property was the location of the artist Gilbert Stuart's house in the 1790's. It features the bronze sculpture “The Signer” which was presented to Independence National Historical Park in 1982 for Philadelphia's 300th anniversary. For visitors touring the various sites, it is a lovely quiet place to sit and rest.

Leaving Independence Hall after walking all morning, I spied a pocket park across Chestnut and 5th Streets. I decided to rest my poor dogs. “The Signer” is a dramatic statue inspired by Pennsylvania resident George Clymer, a signer of both the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. “The Signer” gazes heavenward, grasping a document. The 9½-foot statue stands on a 6-foot granite base. The bronze plaque “commemorates the spirit and deeds of all who devoted their lives to the cause of American freedom.” Take a few moments to reflect on the less-famous individuals who crafted and signed two momentous documents. This site is maintained by National Parks Service.

The Signer statue was inspired by George Clymer, who signed important documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. It's co-located with the site of the Gilbert Stuart House (painter of Washington's image used on the one dollar bill), in Signer's Park on 5th Street. Worth a look as you are passing.

My wife and I saw this statue while visiting the Historical Section. This statue is located across 5th Street from the Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The Signer was sculpted by Evangelos Frudakis in 1980 and was inspired by George Clymer, a Philadelphia merchant, statesman and signer of both the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States. The Signer "commemorates the spirit and deeds of all who devoted their lives to the cause of American Freedom." The bronze statue, standing 9-1/2 feet high on a 6-foot granite base, was a gift of the Independence Hall Association.

A lot of statues commemorating famous people or events seem quite dull - this one, to my eyes at least, conveys some energy and excitement, as indeed it should.

"The Signer" statue - located at the south-east corner of 5th & Chestnut Street - was inspired by one of the Signers (or "Signatories", as we would say on this side of the Atlantic) of both the Constitution and the Declaration, George Clymer, who hailed from Pennsylvania. The 9.5 ft. bronze figure, on a 6 ft. granite base, represents Clymer looking to the Heavens, holding a Founding Document in his grasp.

I found this dramatic statue - presented to the National Park in 1982 by the Independence Hall Association - very uplifting. DO visit, and pause to reflect on those brave Founding Fathers!

Easy to find next to the independence hall.

Nice spot to sit down and relax.

Contemplate what happened around here.
Nice spot to sit down and reflect.
A quiet spot indeed.

Right next to the Hall, but away from the crowds.

Bring a meal and have a picnic.

My sister and I had some time sightseeing in Philadelphia and we encountered this statue as we were walking around. This bronze statue is one of many throughout the city to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This is one of the stops on the walking tour too. It’s worth a quick look

Cool enough bronze statue close to Independence Hall, it’s worth a quick look. There are so many statues and parks to explore in this town, that this one only rates average.

If you visit Independence Hall and Mall there’s a small park in the rear. There’s a statue of commodore Barry and this Signer. Not much else. So you’re there so see it.

The Signer statue is located in a smal quiet park which is a short walk behind Independence Hall. Not much to see but the sculpture.
