Philadelphia doesn’t focus much of its attention on its huge waterfront the way other cities do, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore it. What a wonderful way to take a break from the asphalt: relax, see the blue sky, and enjoy viewing the in’s and out’s of the riverfront on a beautiful (and well maintained) wooden boat as it travels down the huge Delaware or even up the zigzag-y Schuykill. I took a tour of both rivers, which was very enjoyable, but I think a sunset or evening cruise would be really special. Philly has great sunsets and dramatic bridges—it would be cool to see them from the water.

Don’t expect anything earth shaking but if you’d like to take a real break from the stress of your day with people you care about, these boat trips fit the bill 100%.

People who are interested in cargo ships, industrial stuff, maritime history, etc. will also have a lot to see and learn about if they so choose. We spent much of our time asking our captain questions on the ships and locations we passed—he happily obliged with insider maritime info.

We were there on a perfect day- the sun was shining and the water was calm. Because of Covid we had a small group on board. The captain’s narratives of the city/harbor/waterways were very descriptive. Learned a bit of history about usage of the rivers. Loved Captain Roy’s reminiscing with a story about him and his dad. We took the one way cruise - we got on near the entrance to the Seaport Museum and were able to walk to Rittenhouse Square when the tour was over. Very enjoyable cruise.

We took this tour a few years ago, and I'm glad we revisited it. While much of the tour concentrated on the progress of the Schuylkill Banks trail, there was plenty else to enjoy as you moved through industrial, natural, residential and cultural areas of the city. The guide was very friendly and informative about the changes that had occurred over the years. The river was also surprisingly active with boaters, jet skiers and kayakers. A bonus was seeing the massive displacement of trees and debris that had occurred during the flooding caused by Hurricane Ida, though I'm hoping future riders won't have to witness htis!

As a former resident of Philly and boating enthusiast, I was excited to discover the Patriot. The cruise is one of the best experiences and at an incredible value. We embarked at the Walnut St Bridge and the tour ended 90 mins later at Penns Landing. The sparkle of the city from the historic Schuykill and Delaware rivers is a unique perspective and magical. The Patriot is comfortable, even with a light rain storm. The Captain and first mate were wonderful too. Highly recommend this if you are looking for a unique experience while visiting or if you live in Philly!

Thanks for bringing the gang out for the Walnut to Walnut cruise. It was fun getting to know another local boater. There are so few around. The team from Schuylkill Banks was wondering how our cruise went given our departure in the rain. I explained that real boaters aren’t bothered by a little rain. Thanks for the review and see you at the cove.

We booked a private cruise for a smaller corporate networking event. From booking to day of communication, everything went smoothly and as expected. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the day despite blazing July temperatures and were already discussing which tour to schedule for next year! The private charter was absolutely perfect and extremely reasonably priced for a group of 20+. I highly recommend Patriot Harbor Lines for anyone who is looking for something fun and relaxing to do whether on your own or with a group.

Had a nice little girl's afternoon on the Walnut to Walnut tour. Captain Roy and Harry were so friendly and gave us a great tip about grabbing the best seats early - we loved the view from the bow. Views of South Philly were fairly industrial but interesting with plenty of natural splendor throughout and capped off by a pass by of Old City.

Small boat that probably seats ~30 max made for a very gentle ride so don't worry about sea sickness. We made use of the bar as well! Would recommend for any age :)

My family and I went on a sunset Delaware River cruise over Labor Day weekend. We’ve lived in the suburbs of Philly for the past 25+ years but had never seen the city skyline by boat before. It was a fabulous tour on a lovely wooden boat. The captains were very gracious and welcoming. There was a bar with good prices for wine, beer, and mixed drinks. We got great photos of the sunset and were kicking ourselves that we hadn’t done this tour sooner! Highly recommend for locals and tourists alike.

Shhhh - it’s a local secret. But we appreciate that visitors to Philly can also enjoy a sunset cruise. Thanks for choosing Patriot Harbor Lines and don’t take another 25+ years to get out on one of our two great rivers.

The 'Captain's" commentary about the history of Philadelphia's rivers, local lore, river landmarks, architecture, horticulture, commerce and life on the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers was enlightening and comprehensive, thankfully devoid of the usual unfunny jokes and totally informative. It was a beautiful day with much to see and learn. Great for anyone who lives in or visits Philadelphia, to see the city with a totally different perspective, one you do not have in any sense on land.

The captain was a font of knowledge. He was a great guide along the river and was able to answer everyone's questions fully and with an interesting narrative. This is a trip not to be missed by visitors and Philadelphia residents. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Relaxing ride from Walnut Street Dock back to the harbor. Pleasant company and pleasant hosts. They did a good job of telling us about the sights, and even pointing out various bald eagles in the area.

Our 3 year old got to sit at the helm and steer for a bit, which was an excellent photo opportunity. The tour itself is scenic and calm. They even threw in a few non-alcoholic drinks on the house.

Thanks for your review. We always love when the kids get a chance to see Philadelphia from a different perspective. Many customers don’t believe we see Bald Eagles along the river and are always happy when we spot a few.
