Beautiful trails marred by litter
Jul 2021 • Solo
It’s a beautiful area marred by careless visitors. Lots of trash and graffiti on the trails. It seems folks visit to swim, despite rules prohibiting it. On one of the paths, a number of diapers were dumped in the center. Unfortunately this place will need a lot more policing to return it to its potential.

Terrific country side and woodland right in the city.

Just a drive through is satisfying and a reminder of what Philly was before it became an equally terrific urban landscape.

Calm
Sep 2020
This is a true hidden gem; park is heavily wooded with miles of trails. One of the trails lead to a Hermits cave high up in the hills. Very calm and peaceful atmosphere in the middle of the city.

Not a destination, community park
Sep 2020 • Solo
Love how tripadvisor is marketing this as a destination. If people knew the truth they might do something about it. However due to advertising as different people are getting fines like crazy because of all the law breaking. It is a community park just for hiking. Hope everyone knows how polluted the water is they are swimming in. Its so polluted fishermen are only supposed to eat 1-2 fish per year that they catch. Sewage and street water flood this river. I hope the police keep fining everyone wish they could do something more by locking people up for almost starting fires due to grills and trash. In addition, hope the city does something about tripadvisor calling this a destination spot. Best part is how the police have forced people to leave and they waste gas and money for believing advertisements.

Exploring nature close to home.
Aug 2020 • Friends
I had no idea this park existed until a friend told us about it. About an hour and fifteen minutes from the jersey shore you can find this hiking and biking trail. The trails are wide. A little up and down but not to strenuous if you are looking for a nice hike to do. We did the 6 mile yellow trail. Rocky and rooty terrain but a beautiful easy trail. Some bikers on the trail so just be careful. There are a few pretty waterfalls and watering holes along the way, but you can’t swim. Highly recommend if you are looking for something outdoorsy to do

Something for everyone
Jun 2020
Great place to stroll, walk with kids and dogs in tow, due to great tall trees, the paths are in the shade and its a great city escape in the summer. We hike and get get decent exercise going up and down the many trails.

What’s with all the trash?
Aug 2020
It’s always been a five star experience except for the pat two year. Too many people using the park and NOT following the rules.

No BBQ, loud music or swimming allowed. Philadelphia police and park rangers are starting to ticket illegally parks cars and fine those not following the rules.

The amount of trash being left behind: broken coolers, strollers, chairs, tents, and more is a shame. How and why people would do this is beyond me.

Trash Everywhere
Jul 2020
Never coming back. Trash Everywhere, water wasn’t clean. Maintenance? There's none. And I’ve been warned about office staff with condescending racist vibe.

Nature in the city
Jun 2020
The Wissahickon Valley is beautiful and rich with history. People flock to Forbidden Drive for a walk, run or gathering. Lovely places to stop along the way. But you won't be alone and most likely most people are not wearing masks.

An Outstanding Feature of the Philadelphia Area

What a fantastic place to go hiking and spend time outdoors at any part of the year. Whether you want to take your dog for a hike, get out on the trail with your mountain bike, or take a nice jog along the river, Wissahickon is the spot!
