After visiting the beautiful Reading Market, the Italian Market was a big disappointment. It was dirty and crowded in a sketchy neighborhood. It's only redeeming feature is it proximity to Genos!

Contrary to what people say there are in fact still lots of Italian owned & operated businesses here on 9th Street. More importantly this mix of open air vendor stalls & shops has provided a foothold into America for multiple generations of families. Originally Italians,...More

If you love food and go to Philadelphia - the two places you must visit in the Italian Market are DiBruno's Brothers cheeses and Anthony's coffee. DO it! GO! The staff at DiBruno's are the most helpful I know. They will allow you to sample,...More

When we travel to Philadelphia we like to take a cooler and stop at The Italian Market on the way out of town. It's just a few blocks of street grocers, restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops and butcher shops etc... but it's amazing and filled with...More

It's the culture and the people watching. You've got to make the trip and experience it first hand. Incredible good prices on fruits and vegetables.

This is a great experience and a real taste of Philadelphia's wonderful ethnic dimensions. Fresh food of all varieties from veggies and fruit to seafood. And the Italian cheeses of DiBruno Brothers are not to be missed. Enjoy an experience you can't find in many...More

Worth a 15-20 minute stroll, and many Italian and Mexican (yes, Mexican) restaurants, along with fruit, beef/pork/poultry, and seafood vendors. A bit of a throwback to "Little Italys" of yesterday, including the surrounding neighborhood. Did not expect the considerable Mexican restaurants literally interspersed with Italian...More

I was so looking forward to seeing this place. What a let down. It was very crowed which was to be expected but the people were so rude and the place as dirty. We drove around for a while trying to find a place to...More

This is like going back in time. There is a great kitchen supply store, with a nice coffee bar....lots of bean choices. They will grind fresh. The variety of stores and stalls require more than one trip. Di Bruno Brothers has a great variety of...More

We got there at around 3:30 p.m. and very few stalls were open. Fruits and vegetables were reasonably priced. There were also some ornamental and vegetable plants for sale, as well as Butcher shops that were open.

Yes, that's the one! The market is still there! Rocky (the statue) is not far away (like 15-minute ride) - near the Philadelphia Art Museum.
