A fun place to stop a bit before or after you go up the “Rocky” stairs to the art museum. Be aware that some parts of the area may be gated due to an event.

Located at the bottom of the Art Museum stairs, Eakins Oval has a playground, as well as a large statue of Washington on horseback. It's a very nice park on the Parkway.

Stopped to check out the pop up beer garden on a Friday night. They have it decorated summery with hanging lanterns and lights. They have victory and yards beer, that the beer garden was promoting along with other beers available. The outdoor seating area was big and made of recycled materials. It is more of a spot for children of... More

Sure it is not a "must drive and see" place, but everyone that comes to visit the Philadelphia Art Museum is just across from the street, so make it a stop over to enjoy the scultures all around. It is a great place to start the walk on a sunny day, all the way down to the City Hall (can... More

If you're already at the Art Museum, cross the street to the Washington Monument in Eakins Oval. Listen online to some of the explanations of the thought behind it, pose for some beautiful pictures with the statue and then move on. Not worth a special trip, but still a great destination if you're already in the area.

This interesting Oval is located directly opposite the imposing frontage of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, more or less marooned in a traffic circle, and if you're visiting the museum, it's worth the effort of carefully crossing the busy flow. Thomas Eakins, one of Philadelphia's most famous sons, was a highly talented "Realist Painter" in the... More

Absolutely lives this place. There was food, music and games. Giant connect four, checkers, chess and a moonsand table. The park and beer garden are both amazingly decorated with beautiful colors.
