This outdoor space accommodates thousands upon thousands of people. When there is an event, roads will close down, trash trucks will serve as barricades, and portable toilets will appear. Suburban Station is located within walking distance. BE AWARE of the aggressive panhandlers in this area....More

This Eakins oval park is right across the street from Philadelphia Museum of art. Most buses stop at the art museum because people want pictures of Rocky. The best statue and sculpture is in Eakins. That would be the Washington Monument. It is the most...More

This is one of the many fine little parks in Philadelphia. And while we are speaking of Eakins Oval, cruise over to the Eakins Oval statue at the Philly Museum of Art.

If you are driving to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, you cannot miss going in the Eakins Oval. It is the traffic circle right in front of the museum. There are several fountains and monuments within the oval. This traffic circle is really busy so...More

Was at the Eakins Oval Beer Garden last night with my family. It was so much fun. Lots of stuff for young kids to do, great (but pricey) beer selection, and awesome food trucks. The only hard part is that you cannot go and sit...More

A fun place to stop a bit before or after you go up the “Rocky” stairs to the art museum. Be aware that some parts of the area may be gated due to an event.

Located at the bottom of the Art Museum stairs, Eakins Oval has a playground, as well as a large statue of Washington on horseback. It's a very nice park on the Parkway.

hotel for Philadelphia Distance Run (5 Replies)
Hi I am looking for a moderately priced (less than $200) hotel that would be convenient (walkable or easy access to whatever race day transportation is provided) to the Philadelphia Distance Run. In addition to being close to Eakins Oval, the hotel must have comfortable beds and air conditioning. Thanks!

yes, i saw the official hotels, and it does list the distances, but it does not say if it is walkable (ie no crossing highways) to the race. also, the marriott, which is listed as the "HQ" hotel, is almost three miles away with no mention of transportation between there and the start. i was hoping someone could tell me which hotel is the best bet.
