Society Hill really isn’t a hill any longer if it ever was. But the townhouses are wonderfully kept in mint condition. It is unimaginable that a structure built in 1778 still survives yet there they are. I would love to have gone inside one to...More

It is located right near Independence Hall. The tree lined streets are lovely and historical homes are beautiful. Many of the homes have historical placards. The building all have character. You will have a good time just wander around this area.

Why is Society Hill, a prominent part of early Philadelphia history, called Society Hill? I went to investigate and was astounded by the area’s transformation from commercial hub during colonial and post-revolutionary times to a contemporary mixture of lovely historical residences, stately buildings repurposed for...More

This area, full of old houses and cobblestone streets, is a step back in time. Everything is very well maintained and lets you imagine what it would have been like to take a stroll during the Revolution. Great place to relax.
